This is a excellent first time light for those just learning about the new technology.. It's called the Skyray KIng... Get the gold one, the craftsmanship seems superior to the black one. Between $30 & $50 depending where you find it. It takes 4 18650 batteries & does around 2000 lumens. They will tell you 2500 but that's pure advertising.

Nice collection. I have a bunch of flashlights laying around everywhere! Just in case! My latest purchase was a cree xl5, I think that is the model. Anyways got it off ebay for about 15 bucks! It even uses 18650 batts, I just happen to have a few spare cheap batts laying around too!

In a case where the power goes off, it's still a good idea to have a good flashlight that can use common alkaline batts. When you can't charge batteries you either have to have numerous alkalines or a box full of 18650s that you keep charged in rotation. I remember one time when snow and ice took the power down for 5 days in my area. I lived on a lake in the edge of the county. Town people got first choice for power restoration. Those who lived close to hospitals, fire stations, police precincts, and shopping centers were first choices for necessary service repair. The boonies got power last.

That, or some candles, or a car charger adapter. ;)

I went outside last night to remind myself what a great thrower the Malkoff Hound Dog is. It didn't seem to throw as far as usual and then I saw why. The air is so full of pollen that the column of it illuminated by the light looked like a frickin' snow globe.

Lights in a fog ... at least you get to see the shape of the beam the light creates.

I have a question for the op/expert. While diving this past weekend I lost my scuba light, it was a cheap one, and seriously underpowered for a scuba light! My question is what would be a good light for diving? A reasonably priced light! I can find some very good ones, but they are well over the 300 dollar range! I'm looking more in the sub 100 dollar range

Funny you post that ebay one! That was the exact one I was looking at! I tried to find some reviews but there aren't very many. Found just a couple and either they worked great or didn't work at all! I have a cree and i do like it, but it's not a diving light
