MORE FLASHLIGHT FOLK!!

Not that I'm one of them, cuz I find it a funny interest/hobby, but whatever floats your boat. At least they're practical! My garden gnomes and sock monkeys aren't! :p And collecting is just depressing for me now, so I don't want to entertain it. I already want to just collect anything free I can find, so I've gotta do the reverse from now on. At least until I can have a mansion with several garages and storage sheds. :p

Oh, I used to collect Mark Trail comics from the paper. And Pez. High school days.

Well I have a GIANT MagLite I scored on clearance from Target. They were marked down significantly since many of the batteries in the packaging had exploded/leaked, but I found one that everything looked fine. It's really heavy and seems like a great weapon. Don't drop it on your bare feet, cuz it will hurt!

I've also recently been enjoying the flashlight that came with this refurbished Porter Cable tool set I just got off eBay. It has come in handy for gardening in the dark. A lot better than that stupid LED lantern thing someone gave me for power outages.

I don't have any desire to collect flashlights. But if I happen to see a decent one on sale for cheap I'll get another. That's one of those things I easily misplace, and it's frustrating when you need a flashlight but can't find one. And for this reason, my grandfather always had like 20 it seemed.

You know FastTech has more flashlights than PVs?
Just sayin'

I've always demanded a certain level of illumination in a flashlight. It started when I began to go camping as a Boy Scout (many years ago). I had a double mantle propane lantern that allowed me to insert a new cylinder when others were pouring white gas into their Coleman lanterns and pump, pump, pumping up the pressure tank and fiddle with the mantle cleanout from time to time.

I carried a 6 volt sealed beam back then. It was heavy, but the brightest flashlight in the bunch with a large lens. These days I carry a 6AAA cell halogen flashlight sold at Sears. It's not an extremely bright flashlight at 170 lumens, but it can get 14 hours from 6 AAA alkalines on the low setting, which is barely less illumination than the high setting, and 8 hours on high. It's around $50 regular price and much cheaper at $35 on sale. The price has dropped since I bought mine. It's enough to flash the yard brightly and put a bright spot on anything, then slip back into a pocket.

Kelevra, what's your recommendation for the brightest, well made 18650 pocket sized flashlight under $100?
