I say vaporizer but everyone says oh you mean fake cig. The damage is already done.

Ugh. Yes. I try very hard to steer the general perception of vaping away from any and all "cigarette" references, because of that very stigma. Sadly, once people hear "cig", you can see them pucker and wince.

I always refer to it as a "personal vaporizer". When people try to correct me with "do you mean one of those electronic cigarettes??" I make a face, like that's the strangest thing I've ever heard, and say, "I guess some people *insert crazy people look* call them that, but it doesn't make any sense, because..." and I launch into my sales pitch. So far, so good.

I am in the military and have to go to a designated smoking area to use mine while on base. (yeah it sucks, I have to be around all of the real smokers when I wanna vape) I geenerally get the "What the hell is that?! Are you smoking a crack pipe?!!! And yes, they are dead serious. Apparently I'm surrounded by a bunch of ex-crackheads. My mod is much larger than any PV they have ever seen. It usually ends up with the smokers saying that they want to get one. It just bothers me that everyones initial reaction is so biased and automatically negative. I used to go and vape proudly and tell everyone about how great it is. Now I try to avoid smoke pits and just stealth vape everywhere. It's so Frustrating. Especially with the militarys anti e-cig campaigns. Pretty much everytime I'm at the smoke pit I have some idiot that just lit his second analog trying to tell me how bad E-cigs are and why I shouldn't use them. I'm getting tired of educating them all.
