*aaarrrggghhhh*

My purple BuzzPro seems to feel insulted by me ordering another one! It refuses to work! :(

Symptoms:

1) fresh batteries in - ok
2) red LED on - ok
3) pressing switch - NO BLUE LIGHT!

4) On top of that I realize that the top cap seems to be turning round without a problem.... could that be the reason?

~~~~
5) My own stupidity:
I forgot how I fixed it last time ..so by error, I tried to turn the screw at the side... to see if it's loose or not, or in order to get it a bit better fixed.
Just writing this posting, I realize that I should have tried to try & fix the center screw in the top cap, which I will try immediately.
Hopefully that will fix the whole problem.... I will report back....
NOPE!
Seems to be the switch! Had the top cap off (very carefully so nothing could come loose or off) and a good look inside... all the wires are still there - I couldn't see any wire which would be loose or sticking out or broken... or whatever? It all looked perfectly normal - also the wire to the side of the tube (the screw of which I first tried to turn & fix - nothing bad happened there) ... so - everything fine, except that switch button ... nothing happens when I press it.
*cry* :(
The switch behaves perfectly normal! It clicks when pressed, and it does not move into the tube.
Normally, I also don't change cartos, but when I did in the past, I never had a problem. Just earlier today, when this happened, I put on a different atty (a 510 tank using an adapter (which I used earlier for e.g. DCs or so, rarely but sometimes) .... I never had any problem with changing units.
PS: The LED NEVER turns blue atm - be it with or without anything screwed on top of the BP.
PS 2: The problem is, when I press the switch, nothing happens. The red LED just stays red, and if an atty is on the Buzz, it will not produce. Maybe there is something wrong with the connection but just invisible to me when I look into it from the top of the unit?
Oh sure I did, Bovinia. :( The red LED is really *bright* ... it's just the on-off function of the switch which seems to not be working, and I wonder why.
Could there be a lose cable somewhere in the tube (but invisible to me from the top)? Or a broken cable? Or whatever? Should I just get a new switch and then find me a person over here in Germany who might be capable of changing the switches? (In this case, the switch could be sent with my present order...) From the forums I know a lot of people who are building wonderful mods, who are fully equipped with tools and what have you.
Sending it in from here to Mike doesn't seem too feasible to me -- the postal way just takes too long ...
These are the thoughts going around in my head. I want my Buzzibaby to work again asap, as I have more or less switched over to the Buzzes as being my battery carriers. Having only one atm, I feel quite deprived. LOL (I'm aware, I am moaning on a high level, right? But then..................) ;)
All I did yesterday, when the top cap was off, is: I gave the threading a good clean (the threading on the tube, where the top cap screws in).. oh my - the q-tip was black within no time at all!
Ma'am - that's what I also thought, it might have gotten some juice.... but I wouldn't dare put the whole thing into an alcohol bath? All that electrical stuff in there - that can't be good???? Or can it???
Repair of this requires a bath in alcohol. Soak it upside down in iso alcohol up past the button. (Remove the top cap first-See the "swapping top cap thread for instructions") This will sometimes fix that issue. It is VERY important that you allow the unit to FULLY dry after this procedure. A hair dryer can help to expedite drying time.
That is the instructions for giving an alcohol bath, it was posted in response to the light always staying on because juice had gotten inside. Maybe juice could cause the opposite too??
Either way, appears to be safe to do, read that others have done the same with their BP.
Only issue I've found that this could cause (if done correctly) is the markings on the wheel will come off during the cleaning. If you decide to do it, take some nail polish and dot on the markings of the wheel before cleaning it, just be careful not to use too much.
PLEASE do NOT use an alcohol bath unless I instruct you too , FYI ! and them follow my directions 100%
Ooopppsss! This is Mike's posting regarding the bath!
Please wait until he responds before doing anything with your BP. :) Sorry for any confusion I may have caused, and hope Mike pops in here soon and directs you accordingly.
