Ah, welcome to the forum. I have been lurking since 2011 and have used this forum considerably. I smoked a carton of analogs a week -- $72 (Capri 120's, never had any coupons, Grrrrr) a year ago so I spent $288 per month or $3456 per year.

I have kept every invoice from every vendor I purchased parts and pieces from. YES, it expensive to determine what it is that you want from the vapeing experience.

Today I buy 120 ml of Vanilla liquid at a time -- $40 -- from Freedom Smoke USA
https://freedomsmokeusa.com/index.php

Vision Vivi Nova Mini tanks -- $6.99 -- from Ecig Charleston http://www.ecigcharleston.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=vivi+nova
Vision Viva Nova Replacement coils - $3.00 (can get them cheaper from China, but I prefer Brand Name replacement parts)

Ego-D 1100mah batteries from China -- $11.25 -- Search Results : www.health007.net
(not a brand battery, but for $11 I can buy a mess of them and if one is bad, so what) (Shipping is way expensive so I usually buy in Bulk)

Batteries I buy 12 per year -- $135 (+ shipping, $30 - DHL only) let's say $155 per year
Tanks (only had 1 go bad but you like new equipment every so often + backups - lets say 6 per year - $42 per year
Coil Heads - I treat them as truly disposable (but do clean and Dry burn until they do not draw right (for me)) 2 per week - $288 per year
Liquid - I chain vape -- probably 30 ml a week $40 per month - $480 per year

$965 per year - give or take (bought a Pearl PT pass-through - $70 - saves on batteries at my desk, etc.)
$3556 - $965 = $2591 savings per year (not to mention clear lungs, better breath and protection from the Anti-cigarette crazies)

The Point? - It probably took my entire original analog budget for a year to get to the point where I knew what made me a happy camper and could buy in bulk and save a bundle -- but that original learning curve is expensive.

Welcome aboard - "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." quote also imported from China

I have spent about as much as you in the month+ since I bought my first disposable then my first refillable and juice. Try to be happy with the gear you have and finish the juice you probably have bunches of. Yes, there is a lot out there but you don't need it all! I feel I did waste some money on flavors but have found some I now can stay with and three juice vendors I'll deal with, testing time is over, it's time to just vape!

I've reached the point now where I spend:

$0.50/day on eLiquid (DIY)
$0.10/week on new coils(Rebuildable Atomizers)
$16/year on new batteries

That's less than $0.05/day... about 1/100th what I was spending on cigarettes...

It's nice to be able to "splurge" on a $20 bottle of boutique juice... or some other do dad and not feel guilty....

For some reason I still cringe when thinking about spending another $200 on a new mod LOL

YES, I spent around $1,000 to get to this point... more trial and error than was really needed... but now I've found my happy place... for now.

OP - I am in the same boat as far the money spent and always thinking of new flavors, mods etc. In my case I didn't want to quit smoking because of the cost but more so because I was going to get fired from my job for smoking. I work at a non-smoking company. While I feel some of your frustration I can say I feel SO MUCH better now that I have quit cigarettes! I do not smell like an ashtray, I do not smell like I bathed in cologne when I walk into my office every morning, my car isn't covered in ashes, I can vape on the couch while I watch TV with my wife versus always taking a "break to go outside and smoke.

I am SO happy I decided to try this. I could not be happier and I know this initial investment and wow factor will wear off and I won't feel compelled to purchase every new mod I see or try 20 different kinds of tanks etc :) I hope you stick with it.

I will take this over smoking ANY day of the week. :vapor:

OP - This is day 11 for me and I experienced many of your thoughts. I smoked for 20 years over a pack a day. Tried the Blu for a few days and that was el cra po Then found this forum and started lurking. Best thing I ever did. Got my Halo G6 and so far I'm a happy camper so I encourage you to take it one day at a time, use what you have, eliminate thoughts about the other solutions and just let time and your body due its thing. I've NOT had a single analog in about 8 days and with time my body will adjust to the way I get my nic fix and I can gradually transition to other cheaper solutions/tweaks.

Keep it up and good luck :)

Yes it levels out and soon you'll be on a budget and pretty much just looking for a deal on this or
that gadget and of course trying and buying juices. I live in the land of cheap tobacco - $20 for
a carton of smokes. I don't think I'm ahead in the game yet, but it doesn't matter. I'm not doing it
so much to save money as I am for other reasons. I do notice however as each month passes I'm
spending less. After the initial investment the rest is more controllable.

Noob here as well. I been vaping for about a week now and already have spent close to $400 no joke. I started off with the vamo then got a Sigelei ZMax v3, then I found out about the provari...ended up ordering one as well. Then I ordered supplies to DIY my own juice, vivi nova, kanger protank and now I'm thinking about getting into rba and mechanical mods. I've been smoking for 14years, a pack and a half a day. So I figure I spend about $200 a month on cigarettes alone. So I decided just to dive in head first and invest in the equipment that I need now and not worry about it in the future. After I vaped for the first time I knew that cigarettes were finally over. But I do agree that vaping can get overwhelming with all the stuff being sold out there. BTW I just want to say that I love the community here on ECF. I've learned a lot here and it made the transgression from analogs to digital a bit easier.

I used to obsess about making sure I wouldn't be caught without a back up pack of cigarettes and spent $200 to $250 a month on them.

I've only owned 3 ecig batteries, eGo vv passthrough, Provari, and Lambo. In the beginning when I was looking for the "perfect" juice delivery system, I only ordered one or two at the most because I knew that I still had a lot to learn. Other than the original expense of the batteries, I've never spent more than $150 at any one time on juices, carto tanks, clearos, etc.

Now, after more than a year vaping, my monthly ecig expense is $80, no more than $100, and that includes juices and replaceable heads/clearos. The initial outlay of money is higher in the beginning, but I did my research before I spent money on the higher priced items. I live on a fixed income, and I don't use credit cards to buy ecig stuff, I just save up for it. If I can't afford it, I don't buy it, just like every other big ticket purchase in life.

...not worry about it in the future

Except that there will always be something new in the future & to "worry" about, especially in this industry; to the point where today's equipment will be old hat & in some cases incompatible with the new stuff coming out.

My point here is that pacing ourselves as vaping consumers & vapers in general is an especially good idea because it's an industry that is growing & changing by mad leaps & bounds. Taking it slowly when it come to equipment isn't just about NOT getting the biggest or coolest or most advanced device, it's about gaining experience with a workable array of devices, that will end up being invaluable down the line & serve you well in suiting a variety of situations & needs.

Expert or newbie, a few eGos or equivalent is always invaluable in certain situations; same thing goes for cartos, 510 atomizers @ 1.5 to 3 ohms, dripping atomizers even cuz few things are as handy to sample & taste juices as dripping into a bridgeless atomizer (tho simple fillable cartos are a good way to lead up to Dripping Atomizers {Bridgeless Atomizers, NOT "Rebuildables" (RBA's or RDA's)}. Even having some 510 batteries (from a 510 or 510-T ECIg Kit) can be a great part of your Vape Tool Kit, if not the most exciting, cool or shiny part of it...

:2c:

Welcome, good luck & have fun!!!:toast:

Happy Vaping!

Three weeks ago I was in the same boat, though I used the gas station disposables for about a year before that. I was not really saving money with them but I was off the stinkers. When I discovered that there were more sophisticated methods to vape I became really overwhelmed and confused. As I alreaady knew thaat I liked vaping I went with the Provari and a Kanger protank. Yes I could have staarted with a lesss expensive PVD but I knew I would have endd up with the Provari anyway so I bit the bullet. Now all I need to worry about is the fun part. TASTING ALL THOSE GREAT FLAVORED JUICES a. My Provari as the reviews stated is of very high quality and my Kanger Protank has had no runs drips or errors either. In 2 weeks I will be at the break even point. Yes if you make this a hobby there are endless choices and you can spend a lot of money but you don't have to. Spending a feed dolloars to get off cigs could be considered expensive however being able to quit cigs is priceless.

Theres alot of support on these forums. For a minute there I almost went back to stinkies but you all reassured that the overwhelming feeling will pass. Im now on day 6 with no analogs.

I went thru the same thing, so many opinions...and many more choices, I've got a drawer full of, you name it...none of which I still use.

After all my tests and trials, I recommend picking up a 6 dollar Kanger Evod in a 1.8 ohm resistance to go with an ego/ Kgo battery, extremely low maintenance, great flavor and easily replaced inexpensive coils. You'll be very happy with this while you go blind looking at and reading about all the available mods.

And if anyone wants to buy punched cartos, ego a,b, c parts, Kanger ProTank, and lots more...hit me up.

I understand your vent - I felt overwhelmed at first too. I think I have found a good battery / delivery system for me and, even though I am spending money to find other options, I am embracing and enjoying the journey. I've spent almost $500 - much more than I ever would have on cigarettes - but it's not like anyone made me open up my wallet. I could have quite easily still been buying cartons of Pall Mall.

Since the day I took delivery of my spinners and CE5 clearos, I've not touched a single analogue, I've made friends with some others (in the real world and through ECF) because of vaping, I don't stink, I can breathe and I have a new hobby - all because of vaping.

Just stick at it my friend - you don't have to get the latest and greatest product out there, you just have to find something that works for you. Measure your success in the number of cigarettes you don't smoke rather than how much you are spending or how confused you may be.

Most of all, stick at it and keep learning as much as you can.

I would just like to say you deserve a congratulations on making it this far! Quitting can be a stressful event and having consumer overload doesn't help.

That being said I would like to suggest that you don't have to "Keep up" with anything, juices or not, there is no race, no contest, no status, no pace but what you set for yourself so....

My first 2 months I spent about 1.5 times what I would have on cigs but I figured out what I like and got myself backups for my backups and got myself setup to DIY.

Now I am down to DIY supplies for juice and head repairs, Occasional new heads and next month I think I will splurge on a nice glass tank.

This months bill will be about $60 bucks. I can live with that. :)
