Sheesh,

I've started this post 2 times already and my PC has crashed, losing all...bleh...so I'll keep it short this time...

I have received my Joye 510 with cart and atomizer kit....it is awesome! Love the vapor...Electronic Stix is a great company, they got the stuff to me fast!

Question: can u replace the batting in the carts? It would seem easy to do to be able to recycle the carts.

Question: How long do atomizers last? How do you tell when it needs to be replaced?

Step 3 for me will be the pass-through research and big battery mods. I have been vaping constantly for 3 days and have smoked less than 10 analogs in 2 days...a miracle for me, lol....I usually smoke 2 or 3 an hour.

Dr. Vapor suggested not using a cart and just dripping 3 drops right in the atomizer...what say you guys to that?

Thanks again for all of your help and advice!!!

Annie :)

1- yes. 2- depends on you. I replace mine every 2 weeks- ish, some ppl get 3 months. After you kill a few, youll see a trend. 3- you replace when they are no longer satisfying. Sometimes it might take a day or two for you to realize it isnt working well. That comes with experience.
4- dripping is a choice of use. Its not required, but quite effective, but also a learning curve. I dont drip myself. I have a reo mini that I use if I want drip flavor/ and hit. But dripping gets annoying for me. Carts work fine on standard attomisers. There are plenty of options out there for you to find your way. Try new stuff, try them often. You'll find what YOU like best. ;)

Buy the precut blue foam stuffing for 510 at strictlyejuice.com - I think 75 cents for 10 pieces. The tapered end goes in first. On a fiull fill I recommend removing the foam, fill juice cup 1/2 way, insert foam, push foam into the juice to wet it, reposition top edge of foam at top edge of juice cup, and top off with 1-3 drops until it looks damp on top. Then you can just top off when needed until topping off doesn't help (usually means it needs a new full fill)

I also recommend you try Boge soft-cap cartomizers (standard resistance, not LR). I love them on my 510.

Atomizer - you need to have at least 2. That way you can use one while cleaning one, and if one dies you will have 1 to use until a new one arrives. I prefer to have 3. Life varies. if you take care of them and pay attention when they get too hot (means you need to fix something - the juice, the stuffing, something) then you may get months out of an atty.

Dripping - a lot of people like it. Not recommended if you have automatic batteries. The Joye manuals are totally sealed metal on the threaded end (no hole, no drag sensor to kill). If you have manual batteris, buy a drip tip and try it.

You can replace the stuffing in your carts. Adding to what previous posters have said...do a search on youtube, and you'll see all kinds of great ideas for modding 510 carts and stuffings.
Examples:
PTB (Lipton Pyramid Tea Bag) Mod
BluFoam Mod
Straw Mod
Various combinations of all of these...

There are also all sorts of cartomizers, tanks, smart carts, and things like that out now.

Atty life varies depending on how you use yours, clean it, etc. For some folks, a week or so, for others...MONTHS.

For most folks owning 3 at a time is more than sufficient. It gives you two setups and third on the side as a backup.

A few ideas:

First batteries...
A low cost 'right now kind of step' that you'll definitely get your money's worth out of.

If you work/play close to a computer or AC outlet alot consider: Grab an ego/riva pass through battery for about 40 bucks. These can stay plugged into a charger while you use them (via usb cable), and can also pop off the cable for several hours of on the go use, as they have something like a 450-600ma battery in them as well. They produce a good constant 3.4 - 3.7 volts. Have a nice 'on off' feature to prevent accidental burns in your pocket. One neat thing about this hybrid pass-through/battery approach is that you can try just one battery and a pretty big bag of different atty and carto types to see what you like best. That's also more money for juice :) All for about the same cash as a full ego set with the regular large 1000ma XL batteries.

From here...you'll have a nice pass through setup and a chance to try lots of stuff. Will you be a heavy vaper enthusiast who wants to save cash and go for the fancy mods, try HV stuff, etc...or will the bog standards stuff suit you just fine?

Now that you've got a good solid battery on hand...
Pick up the following.

1. Regular 510 atty with some regular and smart carts.
2. LR (Low Resistance) 510 atty. (These just burn a little hotter than normal ones)
3. Mega atty w/Smart Carts. (gotvapes.com is the only place I know of that has these).
4. Pack of CL2 or Fluxomizers (Rev 5) (My personal fave so far).
5. Various other cartos you might like to try.
6. A drip tip or two.
7. Possibly an eGo tank atty and tanks. I didn't like this much but you might love it.
9. [optional] Some blufoam from the pet shop.
10. [optional] Some Lipton Pyramid tea bags.

After trying the various goodies you'll find a favorite setup. At this point focus more on juices if you're on a budget.

Bits you simply hate, but still work...swap them here on the forums for juice or other goodies you want to try.

If you find yourself a heavy vaper at this point...then consider a nice mod. You'll know much more about what you want by then.

Just my two cents :)

The REO stuff is awsome, but also pricy, and you might have to wait quite a while to get one. With that in mind, trying an ego style fat battery is not a bad step 2...for anyone. You'll get your money's worth even if you do get into the fancy mods later on :)

On Dripping:
It's great if you like to do stuff with your hands! You drip a bit on the coil and take several puffs, then repeat. For me on a 510 I can prime the set up with about 3 drops, and for then on get a good 8 to 10 drags per drop.

It's great for having a 'flavor party'. If you like swapping flavors frequently, or just want to try a bunch of stuff without loading carts or cartos...it's the way to go. It's also one sure fire way to get the true taste of your juices.

Standard cartomoizers are nice if you want something you can pack several dozen puffs in, have it in your purse, and not have to worry about leaks and whatnot. Just screw'um on and vape.

If you want something you can just fill and vape all day........
CE2 cartos with a tank mod (just replace the tube with a big hypo syringe tube) work well.
Some people like the ego T tank system.
And bottom feeder mods like the REO Grand are nice.
