So got my second REO in today.....I must say i likey.......i made a .67 ohm coil with cotton and the voltage ended up being 3.6V. Significant voltage drop in my eyes but not bad......i can't not like the REO just because it makes dripping easier.

One question though.......what kind of voltage drop do most of you get on yours. Im using a AW IMR 18650 also in case you wondered.

here are a few pics of my setup and my pair.

I have a simple 10a auto fuse in lieu of spring mod. It reduced my VD to .4 v if I remember correctly. It might have been even less - I don't remember. Also no arcing :)

Important things with the auto fuse mod:

Use 10a. Fuse.

File paint off area where neg leg touches mod.

Place small piece of self stick rubber (like a piece cut from a glass tabletop cushion) between the positive contact and the part of the mod it could contact. Ensure that there is no chance that the pos leg could make contact with any part of the mod or it will not blow if shorted.

Place a similar piece of rubber beneath the pos side to level the fuse (since neg leg is bent down under fuse) and to provide some "spring" in the fuse when battery is inserted.

Test the fuse by firing and shorting across the posts. It should blow instantly. This is a very important step.

Enjoy the vape :)

yeah i like micros but i need to get some bigger gauge wire......waiting on some 24g right now....then i can do a few wraps touching......when its one solid coil with everything touching i think that affects the V drop....correct me if I'm wrong someone.....

To be honest I've never compared the voltage drop between a standard coil and a micro-coil.

Any reason you can't use smaller guage wire? 32 and 28 are very good for micros (I prefer 28). Even 30 will work in a pinch.

My fave is 26 awg nichrome 60. 7/6 around a 1/16 bitwrap gets me ~0.6 ohms (I don't have one dem fancy ohm readers, I'm still in the dark ages w/ my $10 multimeter) and has a shorter heat up time than 24 awg, also doesn't hold its heat as long (some people want a coil to hold heat after firing, but it's something I do not enjoy). My normal daily driver is a 10/9 wrap at ~0.8.

And someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I was told those volt metrers are not an vaccurate way to measure voltage drop, that ossiliscope (or some such) was needed? Am I misinformed or just have the wrong gist of the situation?

well with this setup the smaller gauge wire is going to have more resistance......i want alot of wraps like 5 or more so with that im going to need bigger gauge wire since it has less resistance per foot than the smaller. I use micro coils on my VV Grand but on this one I want to go bigger on my diameter also so not technically a micro but will look similar on the outside

I use 28ga with 10 wraps...gives me approx 1.1 ohm. On my VV grand. And the vapor production I get is more than I can handle.

I can understand the subohm desire on a non regulated device. Just be careful with subohm. I'm sure you know that!

I also like having more wraps as the more coil surface area you have with juice, and provided they heat evenly, the more Vapor you get, all without the risk of subohm coils.

Just my. 02 cents...

yeah i was getting alot of vapor production before off a 1.2 ohm micro but i always want more.....i keep the VV Grand my all day device and when i want big fluffy smoke grenade clouds i pull out my mech and have at it......LOL......

Ive been making sub ohm coils for awhile now and know the hazards associated within.......was doing this on a K100 before the REO. I just hate dripping manually from the top.....LOL
