My take on the 510 cartos

Looks like mine are going to sit in the box until I can get a true 3.7 box mod. They just taste like nothing on my ego and have very little vapor. On the other hand, dripping juice right on the atty of my ego produces amazing vapor and flavor, both on the regular atty and even more on the LR atty.

I did read a thread that tested the batteries on several models and the ego is only putting out 3.1V under load, so maybe as I said, they'll be better with a true 3.7 box.

Also, these are the mega 510 cartos. Drew at Nhaler recommends them, but they have a higher resistance atty inside and I disagree with his advice (although he is a GREAT vendor to deal with) I just think they need higher voltage to be good.

I may break down and try a different brand of carto with a lower resistance. Maybe that will change my mind.

I've found the megas are indeed much better @5-6v. They're 3.4ohm resistance so you're really struggling for production. 3.7v isn't *bad* per se, but it's just nowhere near as good as hitting it on 6v to me. Have to draw 3x as long and still the flavor lacks a little punch. 6v and I draw 1.5 sec get a full draw of vapor and plenty of taste. The prefilled ones don't knock my socks off but refilling with my liquids make it exactly what I want so I can be lazy and fill em once a day.


As far as the turning thing.. yeah, I've heard DO NOT DO THIS (or at least accept that you're risking breaking the coil OR causing your battery to short out, and on things like the eGo with no short protection, that's baaad) so I would never reccomend... despite having done it myself to tighten the draw.

im reading 4v off of my 510 batt, and i still have weak vapor with a stock atty and cart.... i ordered a usb pass thru, will this jump the voltage up any?itys the straight to usb passthru, not the one w the step down box one it... idk i hope my cartomizers come soon, and i hope i didnt get the high res ones..... i guess i will have to wait and see.

As a general rule, I do 30 drops on a new fill and 12 on a refill/topoff. This is of course using the condom fill method, if you are unfamiliar with this method search for "condom fill" via the search function above or search youtube for cartomizer condom fill and you can find some helpful videos on the subject.

When I was using my eGo, I had the same problem with the airy 510 cartos. I VERY GENTLY turned the lil screw thing an itty bitty bitty bit and VOILA! things were better. BUT...when I hooked said carto up to my ProVape, I put the eGo away...for good.
Proprietary batteries are no match for the standard 14500, hands down.
I am in vaping heaven!

OMFG! i got my 510 cartos and my 510 usb passthru, and i must say that is the MOST VAPOR i have EVER HAD! its incredable! the passthru runs at 4.2v and the carto is a higher res than stock carts, its perfect! i have been happily vaping on ONE carto for HOURS, 4+hrs now to be exact! i easily got 35+ drop in each one, just condom fill, and then let them sit, and then condom fill again, let them sit over night, blow out, and use... i didnt even wait for mine to soak in and i still got 4+ hrs out on ONE. so imo, carto is the way to go, but GET THE USB PASSTHRU!!!!!!!

PSS, the carto doesnt vape as good on the stock 4v 510 battery, i guess the .2v extra from the passthru over comes the highres carto.. idk just a theory

PSSS (lol) ran my first carto out, almost dry but not quite there yet, dont wanna burn it. it took me 4+ hrs of "close-to-chain" smokin it to run one of these cartos almost all the way out. it doesnt get much beter than that!

I got my 510 blank cartomizers from Litecigs too. Been using them for about 10 days now and doubt I'll go back to plain old carts again unless I'm doing juice taste tests. Just to have a sufficient supply in rotation I've now been using 7 of them. I rotate them through use and cleaning/drying cycles. All 7 are working great. I've got 13 more fresh ones still in the wrappers. I don't think I'll be using any of those until I lose one of the current 7.

well litecigs has a GREAT deal on the cartos right now, im thinking about getting more, and btw mr irwink, i HIGHLY recomend the usb pass through, the "un regulated one" without the box on it. it REALLY wakes up those cartos!

That's because they're running at 5V

But I agree... the vapor is ridiculous with the cartos on a 5V passthrough. Just be careful not to hold the button down too long, or you'll burn the filler!

I got my 510 cartos in today from madvapes. They are nice because all you need to do is pop off the end piece and fill. Problem is, there is very little vapor. Any ideas to make more vapor? I am using a standard 510 bat.

Holy Crap...just kidding. I busted out another one and it is producing clouds of vapor. It was either a bad carto or I did something wrong. Can you over fill a carto?

It is possible to overfil one and you usually will get lower vapor and juice in the mouth from doing so. The normal fill is about 30 drops with the condom fill method. Its also possible that the specific carto u used first just had an unnaturally high resistance. I have found the ones from LitecigUSA to be very consistent. Maybe try some from them if you end up reordering them at some point.

I have been using carto's for about a week on my 3.7/6 mod. I am rotating about five. IMHO there is quite a bit of variation between the five which came from the same box. Some are vaping monsters and some vape like crap.

I think as long as this lack of consistency is present we simply will continue to search for the perfect solution.

There has been a lot of very diligent people doing everything possible in the "burning cartomizer" thread. The should be applauded and its IMO a must read for people considering carto's.

I would like to see some kind of line graph that shows what the best carto choice is in a timely manner. I think "best carto" is a moving target. And what may be the best today may not tomorrow. It would be nice to see which one is number one on any given day you decide to buy. Because of this (and this is the only advice I will give) I would suggest not to buy a bunch. You just may be stuck with yesterday's news.

There are also so many carto threads scattered all over the site it would be nice for them to have their own category to assist in searching.

Just my two cents. I am using and will continue to use carto's because of the economy and ease of use.

Mat dmb, try the condom fill method, thats all ive used, and they fill great! no fiddling w the end caps or anyof that. you can find links on you tube about it, and i think there are videos on these forums too.
