My USB-Cigarette with BLUE Led

Hello,
I have an e-cigarette but i it is a no name, it looks like a mini...
I wanted to have blue LED Light so no one will tell that i'm not alouded to smoke in prohibited areas.

I disassembled the plastic cover of the LED and I had simply changed the Orange LED with a BLUE one.

I will post some pictures that hopefully will help others!

I prefer the oranhe LED then when they tell you you can't smoke you "Put It Out" in your own eye, then start puffing again. GREAT FUN

Any chance you could put up some step by instructions or a video how-to? I want to change mine from blue to pink, but I'm not very good when it comes to wiring. I have no clue what to do. Thanks!

All i can do ffor you is to explain step by step on the pictures i had allready posted, because i don't have any possibility to make better pictures.
First you should use a tweezer with a fine tip and force the top of the battery(the plastic one) sa it will pop up.
Usually it is glued,but if you force it , it will come out ouick.
Second you should use a multimeter to determine the POSITIVE( + ) and NEGATIVE( - ) terminals of the LED.

Now you need to Heat that small PCB and pick the LED.
Last thing you have to do is to solder the pink LED with POSITIVE to POSITIVE and NEGATIVE to NEGATIVE.

Where did you get the blue LED?

I got mine from an PCB of an old mobile phone. Samsung used to have blue LED at the keyboard light ;-). Also you should find them in usb memory sticks and stuff like that.

man you are good even with my trusty eyelopes u know the kind with the hinged lenses and mine has three flip down magnifiers and i still cant see it well enough to want to solder it... good work misujr

I use only my glasses and sometimes my desk magnifier .
Try to use a better magnifier, a 6x should do the job .

great idea with the cell phone Led,
I have only got as far as swapping the orange (the in use) LED with the Green (warning/charging) LED.

was your LED small enough to fit in the little board or is it dangling?

Nice work. Those SMD LED's are a pain to work with. I replaced my xbox controller leds with blue ones a while back. Fortunately I bought a strip of 10 for seven bucks, since it takes very little heat to burn one out of commission. Only place that I've been able to find them at decent prices, with out having to buy hundreds for 30-40 bucks is of course ebay.

Is not verry hard to work with them .
I'm used to them beacuse a while a go, i was a gsm tehnician, so is easy for me to work with them.
As a tip, you must find and use a fine and good quality tweezer

I have lots of GSM PCB's at home and is easyer to use them, also ebay sellers are not verry used to send items to Romania =)).

If you would chean the contacts on the pcb before soldering the LED, it will be 10 times easyer to solder any kind of SMD .
