I have been an analog smoker for 17 years, and cut back a little after I got my SE Gold...I got my Joye510 yesterday morning from cignot and I haven't had an analog since 9:36am yesterday morning...I still have the pack, and the 3 analogs that are in it...I am going to keep that pack as a reminder that with the help of my 510, I was able to stop analogs with a few to spare!

now don't get me wrong here I don't think anyone should start tobacco use but if they were to because they feel the need to be addicted to something wouldn't it be better for them to hop in on the e-cig? I've smoked for almost 5 years and am happy to make the switch (my 510 should arrive tomorrow) but I believe in choice wether it be for someone new to pick up a e-cig or a cigarette. Honestly I believe the e-cig isn't a cessation device or even an alternative by all means but a new way for people to try new things, remember I don't believe anyone should use tobacco but if they feel the need I want their options to be open.

I started smoking at 15 I think. Sophomore year of high school. Quit successfully a few times until I made the conscious choice to go back to them. I'd say in the past 4 and a half years, I was only a smoker for about a third to half of the time. I quit the last time after I heard about the Po-210 and Pb-210 found in all tobacco, but nicotine is too enjoyable and I LOVED (still do here and there) Marlboro 27's. Vaping really killed the reason I had to quit nicotine which is why I started and now I love it.

The poll responses seem pretty surprising actually. The fact that only 1 had chosen never and even that wasn't "never". I thought there would be a little more than that.

I voted before I read the question - I put "never", because I've never been addicted, just a very light social smoker of analogs. Virtually never actually crave one if I'm not around anyone else (and usually won't have any with me in that case!), try to avoid buying my own because of the prices in Ontario (~$10 a pack!) and just borrow other peoples when I can, and combustion's probably not the greatest idea because of my asthma, anyways. (I'm quite a fan of smoking nargila/hookah with flavored tobacco picked up overseas, though...)

I work with a lot of much heavier smokers, though, have friends that smoke, family that used to but quit, started again, quit again, and I don't know how long that's going to last. I smoke seldom enough that I find the smell of regular analog smokers disgusting, anyhow. So mostly, I picked up the e-cigs to test them out a bit, before attempting to introduce them to all my friends on smoke breaks at work!

I'm not really the intended "end user" here, so that doesn't count as an "OMFG it's gonna make non-smokers LED up!". Though for each analog I don't bum off a friend, even though it's not often, still less chemicals inhaled. At least if I don't stand too close to them before I get them vaping...

I had my first cigarette at 15 and didn't really smoke regularly until about 17. I started vaping this year. After two weeks of nothing but vaping, I tried smoking an analog again just to see how it would affect me and it was disgusting. It tasted gross, smelled gross, and I took like two drags before I handed it to a friend and pulled my PV out.

Wow: I was just comparing the results of Kristin's Survey (now has 902 responses) and I am struck by how comparable the results of this poll (350 responses) are to her question "How long did you smoke before using electronic cigarettes?" 2 respondants answered "never" which makes her percentage for that category a wee bit smaller (0.22% compared to 0.86). In the Survey, a total of 85.4% smoked for more than 10 years. In this poll, the total is 81.71%.

These are not exact matches, and I wouldn't expect them to be. But they are in the same ballpark. We are not seeing much difference in the way that the data would graph.

Smoked for over 20 years so I checked that box 21-25 years. I never planned on quitting - it just happened - so Im an accidental non smoker.
To be honest Id never have chosen this over smoking if it had been available at the time I started. It looks like something for old smokers who NEED to quit, or just bit lame looking. I mean they look like some weird pipe; how many teens want to look like grandad with his pipe? If legislators really think teens would choose a PV over a cigarette they need to meet some real teenagers.
