For me dry mouth is caused by nicotine. I can vape 100% VG and get a dry mouth if i've made it with too much nicotine for me and like others say it doesn't matter how much water i drink i still feel my mouth needs more but i don't think i'm dehydrated.

Same for me. I can vape lots of zero nic juice and don't get a dry mouth no matter what the PG/VG content. The more nic in it the more my mouth feels dry.

But that is not dehydration.

vaping does not cause dehydration... plain and simple.

heres the proof

dehydration has 3 distinct levels, mild, moderate, and severe which are all based off of % of body weight

mild at 0-3% of body weight, moderate at 4-8% and severe at 9-20% ( pretty much after 20% your near death)
considering a gallon of water weighs 8.8 lbs ( 4 kilos) and lets say a person of avg weight of 140 lbs vapes to a point of mild dehydration ( 3% loss of fluid) that would be 4.2 lbs of fluid loss ( nearly 1/2 a gallon of fluid)...

VG and PG can adsorb water but only at a maximum of 40% per volume... so, if one vaped 10 ml of VG PG juice, it would/could adsorb 4 ml of fluid ( water) from your system at maximum efficiency.

So, for a person ( of 140 lbs) to become dehydrated to 3% loss of fluid, one would have to vape around 1.3 gallons of VG PG juice in 24 hours with no intake of fluid during that 24 hours....

What? Dude. you know you should drink eight 8 ounce glasses of fluid per day... ... so far you are at 2....

LOL.

But hmm. I dont need to drink... as I am constantly vaping... But... I do tend to drink a bit more...

As for the RDA having more flavor... That is simple common sense.
Yes, Some RDAs may seem to have less flavor, and some RTAs may have more flavor... but it depends on the ohms, heat, wattage, and hardware.

GENERALLY.... A simple RDA will have SLIGHTLY more flavor in the right conditions simply because it doesnt have as far to go. The Vapor goes straight from the coil to your mouth, where as with an RTA, the vapor goes from the coil, down, back up a tube.... and then in to your mouth.... just more distance to travel.... means you lose a little bit of flavor. Sure, this could be negligible...
So does a drink loose more flavor when you drink it from a straw? I have heard of your reasoning before and I'm not so sure that vapor can loose flavor because of an extra 1/2 inch of travel.

Been vaping a while with 24mg nic and never felt thirsty from it. Maybe it's more from the DL inhalers, that style of vaping requires a lot more sucking, alot more sucking, a more drier mouth? As for dehydration, "come on man". Also agree on the rda myth, imo it's all in the build . A properly built rta will produce flavor on par with an rda

Since I joined ECF about a year ago I've heard repeated two things that in my experience simply aren't true but since everybody else seems to believe them I've decided to ask.

Vaping makes you thirsty - not in the least. It is now 3:30 pm here and so far today I've had one small glass of OJ and a coffee and I've vaped all day and am not thirsty. This is very normal for me inspite of living about 5 degrees north of the equator. I did a bit of reading on this and am now wondering if because I vape max VG this is not really a problem. Anyone else question this?

RDA's taste better - I have about 6 different RDA's, mainly popular ones, and about 15 different RTA's, again the popular ones and yet I have never tasted an identifiably better taste with the RDA's over the RTA's. They both have it easily over tanks yes.

I Don't think the First could be called a Myth by any stretch of the Imagination. Although to what degree it can effect All People is Questionable?

Does some who Vape's High VG e-Liquids see the same thing as someone who Vape's High PG e-Liquids? Or even 50/50? Does a MTL-er with a Low Wattage Atomizer feel the same as a Lung Hitting Cloud Chaser?

---

The Second Can't (IMO) be called a Myth because Taste is Subjective. We just Aren't all looking for the Same Thing when it comes to a Hit.

Vaping myth
  • DIY mixing by weight is more accurate than by volume
  • DIY mixing by volume is more accurate than weight
Both of the above are true and both of the above are false (where did I put the box with the cat in it, I know it's around here somewhere).:D

While it's kind of obviously true that the two forms are in theory equivalent I'd be surprised to find that you could mix as accurately with cheap "volume" equipment from Amazon as I can with a cheap scale from Amazon.

I'm not sure it matters much though- I mix by weight not so much for accuracy, but for the convenience and routine it allows.
