Hi!

I'm new too, though not a long time lurker. This was one of the sites that kept coming up while I did my research on vaping. I'm coming up on 20 years of smoking (yikes), and ready to change. Champix, Zyban, patches, gum etc were not useful for me. My short lived successes were both cold turkey. On a whim I got a disposable nicotine free ecig from the drug store and while it is not so good for cravings, it has totally impressed me in the sensation across my palate and in my throat. I've found nicotine gum/patch/inhalers to "burn" in a way that's more unpleasant to me than smoking. If it only had nicotine, I thought, it would be perfect. Hence my research, which led me to find vendors who could help out in that regard. And luckily I found one who is local to me and seems legitimate.

I've ordered a 510T starter kit and some juice, and hope it shows up in the next day or so. Ideally I hope to ween myself off nicotine altogether in the long term.

Anyway, thought I'd say hi and nice to meet you. The forum seems really informative!

HI there. I'm new here and to vaping. Been at it a week and I think it's going to work out just fine. This seems to satisfy my cravings without everything negative from my regular cigs. I too found this forum from searching e-cigs out after seeing a Blu commercial on tv. Bought my first e-cig from a smoke shop and now just got my Volt kit. I think it's an ok way to start. Maybe later I'll get into the more advanced stuff but this has seemed to stop me from smoking my Camels.

welcome to the forum. I'm new to this myself. I have found that even vaping at a 24mg eliquid still doesn't completely satisfy my nicotine craving. I don't think the nic gets into my system very well with an e-cig but I enjoy not smelling like an ashtray all day. That alone is enough to keep me from going back to the cigarettes. The cravings pass after a few minutes and focusing my attention on something mind engaging helps as well. Good luck! Welcome to a healthier life!

Hi, dragonfly! I've actually been at this for over a year, but have just started a second account for the heck of it. If you find yourself getting frustrated with the 510 system you've ordered, please don't give up. Many of us quickly found that we need a battery with a little more oompf (and battery-life) to get us off of cigarettes. Ego kits (knock-offs are fine) are running real cheap, these days. I got a vamo for Christmas that has really done the trick for me. As for this forum, you'd be amazed at the warmth and generosity of fantastically helpful veterans and newbies, alike. Come back with any questions you might have during this tricky transition. Welcome!!

A question on it I have (it's due tomorrow):

My kit comes with 2 batteries and 2 atomizers. And 5 cartridges. I'm guessing cartridges are good for a few refills, but what is the life of a battery charge, and how quickly will I go through the 510 tank atomizers? I haven't found much info on this yet. I'm guessing a few weeks per atomizer and I don't know how many puffs or hours per charge on the battery.

Cheers!

I first ordered a mini kit, then a 510-T and I got them from American suppliers, the taste of the juice didn't work for me and I gave up for quite awhile. Started looking it to ecigs again while on vacation, did lots of research here on ECF, I got a couple of ego C's with CE4's and a Canadian and a Players flavored ejuice. I am a 2 PAD smoker, tonight once I finally got my batteries charged I tried them out, the Players is awesome. I haven't had a smoke in 3 hours, which is amazing for me, especially since I am having a couple beer. The Canadian is a bit weak (not much of a throat hit) but I have read that leaving it steep for a couple days can improve flavor so I haven't given up yet. I've also ordered a Lavatube, I read so much on the APV's, that I thought that if I was really going to try and quit, that I should try one of those. I found the Lavatube, version 1, kit for 50.00, figured I could blow thru that in smokes in no time. Good luck!

PS, the 510 tanks wore out before the atty's for me. Do you have the all plastic whitish tanks that slide right into the atty's? That's the style I had.

Longevity of the battery entirely depends on how heavy a smoker you've been. I'd crept up to nearly 2 packs a day, and the 510 kit just couldn't cut it for me at all. Most folks say 3-4 hours per charge for 510s. Atomizer-life depends on you not letting them run dry and keeping up with maintenance (cleaning). My own laziness is what made me move on to clearos. Love your generous-spirit of future family-gifting ideas!

Chiku, where did you find the Canadian/players juice out of curiosity. PM me if you like as I guess vendor info is a bit hush hush given the Health Canada ban (seems 100% political and not health related as PG is in everything from pitstick to inhalers).

Talula, I had been a 2pk a day smoker at one point. Now I'm about 3/4 pack a day smoker but I only smoke outside and rarely finish a cigarette now. Smoking outside has helped me cut back. But so has the "social stigma" that's pretty apparent here in Vancouver. (I'm a courteous smoker, never around pets/children/nonsmokers ) I'm hoping I get by on a battery a day, but if this kit I bought doesn't satisfy that, I'll look at other suggestions and mail it off to my brother to test. My parents and brother both smoke, all want to quit especially in light of a mild stroke my dad had this year. I'm proud of them already, they are 6 months into smoking outside at their house now. No small feat in Canadian winters!

Hi dragonfly and welcome to a healthier lifestyle and to ECF! I started vaping in April last year, quit smoking after a week or so and have not looked back. I started with a eGo-C kit from Happy Vapor in Toronto which came with 2 650 milliamp hour (mAh) batteries. The rule of thumb is 100 mAh will last about one hour of vaping. That of course depends on how much/frequently you vape. I don't know how many mAh your batteries are but I suspect around 200 in which case you will need to keep one on charge while vaping the other. Hopefully I'm wrong and they are bigger. In any case as you said, if you find this does not do it for you you can upgrade and pass the equipment on.

Now that you have more than 5 posts in, you can post in the Canada forum here. You'll find lots of great info from other Canadians on vaping in Canada there. Best of luck with it!

Hmm, Chiku, I see the PM option for dragonfly when I do the left clicks, but not for you when I try the same. PM's become available after a certain number of posts. I think it's 5 which both of you have, but it might take an hour to become available, or I might have the number wrong. In any case, if the PM thing doesn't work right now, wait a bit and try again later.

you are going to found that the nicotine will not hit you as hard as a analog. I found having a cig in the a.m. helped. its going to take a long while too train your mind that it is in fact getting the nicotine it craves.but keep with it, it's soo worth it.there must an cig store in Vancouver, I live in Victoria and we have 2. I sincerely suggest you try to find a good store near you, for they are usually extremely helpful in guiding you through your vaping journey...VAPOUR SOLUTIONS IN VICTORIA SHIPS....sorry I'm on a tablet and haven't figured out how to include a link yet
