Get ready long post, but before you read . . .

First the Disclaimer:

While I know from reading a lot of the threads and the advice that is provided here:

1) No One has or will find the same taste as the “Cigarette” they have and/or are currently “smoking” now, especially given the “Fact” that “eCigs” are not Cigarettes.

And the most important of all:

2) The “Taste” of e-juice and the “Flavors” that are offered are and will be purely subjective to the individual who is “vaping” and their “taste-buds.”

History:

There are many of us “newbies” here at ECF that are in search for information and suggestions, not only because we are interested in transitioning to the “World of eCigs and/or “Vaping,” but to the “World of being ‘Cigarette’ and/or ‘Analog’ free.” And while everyone’s reasons are different – yet very similar in many ways – why they wish to make this switch . . . there are as many answer, advice, and suggestion that are offered from those more experienced and defiantly informed to assist, encourage, and support those who ask questions. (That’s why most everyone is here – Right?)

However, as someone who is making this transition – as it seems with many other “newbies” here, after reviewing most of the post in ECF – while most of the information is quite informative and very realistic, and the stories I read were very encouraging, I was overwhelmed with all the “stuff.”

What I thought was going to be easy if I learned more about it, became even more complex for me – as I stated in my original post and a couple of my follow-up post: 1) “although I really do not want to, because I enjoy it too much – I need to stop smoking analogs . . . However, I find it very difficult and extremely hard to do so, especially given that I am emotionally, mentally, and physically addicted to smoking.” (for emphasis); 2) “I was starting to get so frustrated and confused again as to what I could/should do that I was starting to get quite “anxious” once more (OH MY – I haven’t even started using an “eCig” – Now that’s really messed-up) “.; 3) the “reality [of what I was doing – smoking and being addicted to nicotine”] really hit me hard.

What’s even more important, I know myself well enough, that not only was my addiction to nicotine controlling me, but as I stated before – there was a realization that the smoking and subsequent action’s and familiarities of smoking is just as important to me, if not more so. The reality of the situation – for me, became one that was very clear – I knew that I had to meet certain and specific criteria for me also, especially if I was going to make the transition to improve my health and life from being a “smoker.” Since pills (i.e., Chantrix/Welbutrin, etc, were too mood altering for me), the Nicotine patch and gum did not work for me, I knew that not only did I need something I. 1) could carry around easily – like a pack of Cigarettes; 2) could actually hold between my fingers – like a Cigarette, and finally just as important to me, 3) that “tasted” familiar – like a Cigarette (and Not like gum or old stale gum/cardboard {i.e., I need a “true” Menthol). In addition, I also want to know what level of nicotine I need to start with given the brand of Cigarette I smoke.

Given this, I asked the same question as I see many others have too.

Now the reason for the post:

Thankfully, although I haven’t gotten my “eCig” with “carts” that come with it (which will be easier for me) or started “vaping” just yet, I was able to get the information here at ECF from an ex-smoker of the same “brand” of cigarette I am addicted too that I needed to hear and I “felt” was important for me to know, so I could possibly accomplish my final goal – STOP smoking. (Not that I am not going to try other “eJuice”/Flavors too – Hey, what fun would that be, especially given what I’ve learned here – THANKS everyone.)

With that said, as I mentioned already, one very common statement/question that I see regularly through-out the “New Members” post and asked to those who have gone through the transition and have the expertise and knowledge that we – at times desperately, like I did – seek:

The statement:

“I smoke __________ (of course fill-in the blank with whatever Brand of Cigarette) _____ (Fill-in the blank) PAD, for __________ (Fill-in the blank) years. “

Along with. most of the questions related to: What “eJuice” / “Flavor” and/or Level of Nicotine is like ___________ (again Fill-in Brand and Type of Cigarette).

So, I was thinking that given these post, there may be others “newbies” present /”lurking” who are looking for and/or might benefit from those facts and the information from those of you who are more experienced and smoked the same “brand,” that is either just as “clear and concise” or a “plain and simple” direct answer as I got . . .

So just as a thought and looking for a general consensus, what does everyone (and of course, the moderators of ECF who would have to allow/do it) think about a “Sticky” post in the “New Members” Section that list the most popular brands of cigarettes (i.e., Marlboro, Winston, Camels, Kools, Newport, Salem, etc.), their respective Nicotine levels (i.e., Reg,. !00’s, Light’s, Ultra-Lights, etc.), and suggested “eJuice”/”Flavors” that are similar in taste to those brands being done.

(As an end note and just to remind you, as I stated in my disclaimer, I know everyone’s opinion differs and is subjective to their likes and dislike or personal taste, and more importantly to their individual needs. I also understand and know very well that while change is not always easy, nor is it something that most of the time just happens over night. What’s even more important, (IMHO) for some people – like myself, there can be too much information and variables to begin with, we also need some place to start from first, besides what type of “eCig” to use too.)

This is a wonderful idea and would be immensely helpful! It is understandably quite subjective, but could be a good starting point for newbs like myself who are just wandering in the dark for a while before finding a bit of light.

I can start by saying I smoked Camel Menthols for the past 5 years or so and had been smoking a pack a day of varying brands for a little over 20 years. I purchased a Cig2O menthol kit on the advise of a coworker, which gave me the ability to walk away from analogs, but wasn't exactly 'nice' (are the stock cartos ever?). Then, I got lucky and happened upon V4L's (Dekang?) 18mg Kamel Menthol liquid as my first refill choice. While it doesn't taste quite like a cig, of course, it is very satisfying. I feel great about it and enjoy vaping it all day.

On the other hand, my roommate has smoked Salem Lights for over 20 years. I grabbed her some cartos of both the WOW Vapor and Premium Smilin Menthol from V4L to see which she would prefer to help her convert. These were not similar to her brand at all, and not even remotely menthol. They are a very sweet spearmint flavor with a hint of licorice or something similar. Now, we're trying to find something else to help her ease into vaping. :p That first experience was a bit of a downer for her, though she does carry one of the cartos with her 'just in case' because she really wants to like it. I'm trying to vape the rest of them and refill with my Kamel juice now just to salvage the cartos.

A well tended and unbiased list would be a great place for us newbs to get a rough idea! :vapor:

@swedishfish - that should be available in the beginners forum. Any way to cross post it as a sticky here?

Thanks for the link to this poll - I didn;t know there was one for Menthol. And to clearify, as fpr this post, I was asking more if everyone thought it was a reasonable/good idea to do this as a "sticky" post for all new members to see and save asking the same type of question to everyone - and help with the faustration of trying to find the answer . . . I don't know if it would really help - it was just a thought . . .
