at my local store, all of the worker exhale through their nose. they appear to continue hitting their ecig while doing this

whenever i try it, i either completely fail, or just get a somewhat painful burning sensation in my nose

my question is, what is the best way to do this, and is there even any real benefit other than it looks cool?

What nic are you using and what nic are they using? I sometimes get it with the 24mg and rarely if ever with anything lower. I get more taste if I go through the nose.

I draw into mouth before pulling into lungs, don't like direct inhale. Inhale that and then while exhaling through nose, draw with mouth; rinse and repeat.

i use 24-25mg nic depending where i got it from. most online places seem to provide 24, but my local store sells it at 25mg.
my issue is more with the act that after i inhale it, if i try to blow it out my nose i seem to accidentally blow out my mouth as well.

I vape that way but can't really tell you how its done. I did the same thing when I smoked analogs. It's an old habit, one that's more learned from experience. When I younger and smoking in school (wasn't allowed to) would "hotbox" the analog. This started that habit and it's kind of just been the way I do things since.

Like wright said, it's habit; I don't think about it, it just works. Try doing it the way you breathe through your nose with mouth closed.

Just tried it now without vaping keeping my mouth open and it seems that the back of my tongue gets pushed up against the top of the mouth in the back blocking air flow.

Did it with vaping and same thing.

That's how I draw.

Lots of vapers take a short "priming puff" and exhale it then draw in a longer real puff. It's a habit from older cartomizer days when that first puff was kind of dry. Still useful on some current attys and cartos to get the juices flowing.

Pull vapor into your mouth then inhale. Exhale through your nose while you pull on your device again. I do this with some of my juice to give myself a fuller hit.

Funny fact: that's the exact opposite of the "circular breathing" technique brass and wind instrument players use!

you know, that might be it right there. i was a brass player all through middle school for 4+ years after. maybe its just too different from how they taught me to breath

Maybe we should call this technique "curcular vaping" from now on...
Warning to horn-playing-new-vapers: Just don't circular breathe through your atty or I'm sure you'll drip like crazy!

No one has mentioned yet that exhaling the vapor can actually help you "taste" the flavor of your e-liquid.

Years of smoking damage your taste buds. Until they begin to heal, especially for new vapors, you might not be able to distinguish between one flavor or the next, or the same flavor will taste different after the taste buds heal. So a flavor that became your go-to flavor early in your vaping experience may become just so-so. Or just the opposite can happen; a distasteful flavor my suddenly become a favorite weeks later.

Our sense of taste is greatly influenced my our sense of smell. You can relate to this perhaps better by recalling how food tastes bland during a bad head cold. Blocked nasal passages prevent the nose from using the aroma of food and sending it to the brain. This is an often unmentioned benefit of nasal exhalation of vapor.
