Been using my first atomiser a week and its been great. But over the last 24 hours the vape has developed a nasty, acrid taste to it. Kinda like burning, bitter, not nice at all. I use generic pre-filled DSE carts and I have tried the atty with different batteries but the vape is the same with whatever battery. I am also sure I am through the "primer taste" period so that's not it.

I notice that when I blow through it, quite a lot of liquid drips out even if I have only been vaping a short while. I was kinda surprised that 2 or 3 big(ish) drops come out of it each time I blow through it - but to be honest I have no idea if this is normal and perhaps it has nothing to do with the nasty taste.

Does this sound like it needs a cola clean? Or can you suggest any other possible explanations for the sudden appearance of this taste?

Thanks.

I think this is the main reason I'm interested in cleaning atomisers.
The bad tastes that can develop due to build-up on the coil,
or even due to ageing e-liquid mixture going 'sour'.
(I've had that with home mixes not stored in amber bottles)

If you've got the latter a simple water/vinegar/lemon juice/coke
wash / soak will do wonders, and even for a lightly dirty coil.

But you realize that if you've got significant burnt 'gunk' on the coil,
the nasty taste will probably come back relatively quickly even after the above.
i.e. regular cleaning is advisable, otherwise you'll be using phos.acid or H2O2
to try & clean it.

Or possibly you've got cartridge polymer wool burning on your atomizer
bridge, try washing or changing that (especially to rolled-up tea-bag paper)

Exogenesis,

Many thanks. Your thoughts are kinda in line with what I felt about it. I'll give the cola clean a go as you suggest in case it is something minor. If that doesn't work, I'll put it down to gunk or a dodgy unit and move on to another atty. I don't mind the odd one only lasting a week if the average life expectancy of them over time is closer to a month, which I think is most people's experience.

Oh, on the tea-bags, I have a whole bunch cut and dried awaiting my first liquid delivery!

Thanks again.
