i started off with Little supplies, and used the rest of my "uflavored" Vg mix.

poured into a pyrex dish and "double boiled" it to heat it up, put a coffee filter into a funnel and then added some coffee grounds. poured the VG thru and well yeah, made some coffee extraction. i understand VG dont hold flavor well, but i do taste it, witch is not the issue.

after vaping it for 4 hours before bed, i woke up with bloody mucus in my nostrils, and i can feel a scab on the back of my throat that is also producing bloody mucus, as i keep coghing it up.

has ANY one alse who done a coffee extract - experiance the same thing?

do you think its the caffiene reacting with being vaped?

im wondering if its over drying my throat/nasal passage ways, and thats what started the blood fest. but none the less, i know its from this ejuice :/

Ive made coffee extract for myself...didnt have that happen to me though... but me and coffee go way back...could be the coffee you used... was your pyrex dish clean and rinsed well of soap residue? Especially if you use a dishwasher... honestly I have no idea Im not a Dr., although I do play one on the internet.

its probably because im not hydrating enough, i was just asking if any one else experianced this.

yes the pyrex was clean lol. its regular folgers, and the VG has no nic. just 10-15% vinegar, since i eyeballd making the diluted mix :/

i ben vaping it all day but no problems yet, then again i drink alot durring the day, just not so much at night. probbably dried out my airways.

thinking about doing this again, i would yeild a stronger flavor if i repour the coffee mix back into the coffee grounds and strained again, correct?

anyways, thanks for the input. i know im stupid, but id rather be sure

I'd say the vinegar is the problem. It is very acidic, by boiling it you concentrated the vinegar. I've made my throat very raw like that taste testing pickling brine. (for making homemade pickles) Easy on the vape and, do try to get something w/o vinegar in it for a few days and, get hydrated. Don't eat dry, throat scratching foods and, if not better in 2-3 days, see your doctor.

Why the vinegar?

I'd say 10-15% vinegar would be caustic, though I'd never try it. Some use a few drops per batch of e-liquid, but that's a lot less than 10%.

FWIW, I know that 10-15% alcohol would be extremely caustic to me, though some don't seem to be bothered by it.

I'd recommend distilled water, if it's thinning that you are trying to achieve. It's also good for extracting flavor.

Coffee is very acidic and perhaps the atomized coffee is so hot and acidic that you're steam acid burning your throat. Or yes it could be the caffiene+nicotine combo drying your out and causing sinus issues. try it again with 0nic and see how it goes, then you'll know for sure. But that's assumig you want to risk dealing with the ordeal again.

EDIT: didn't see you used 0nic already.

Nerdy idea from a Nerdy Chef:
Perhaps make a coffee reduction, and leave out the vinegar. Use some vodka or cognac. Anything you think would have a nice taste with the coffee. Brew a ridiculously strong coffee of your liking then set it on the stove to simmer, and simmer, and simmer..until it's stupidly reduced to about 5 or 10% of original. Make sure to run it through some filter paper to remove all the larger particulate matter. AND DONT use nonstick cookware as the chemicals contained within are toxic. Then you could just use it as a direct coffee extract flavoring.

Haha I do the same thing to my coffee on accident by forgetting to turnboff my warmer and going to work ;-)

I like your reduction idea but I have done an extraction like the mentioned method and think the major issue is the vinegar.

My method was as follows but in my first attempt I used pg and would recommend using vg instead if you like a big vapor cloud.

I took equal parts coffee and a pg/vodka mix (approx 80% pg and 20% vodka) (everclear would be fine, just make sure your alcohol is not flavored).

I put the mixture in a mason jar, sealed it and let it sit a couole days to get the flavor out, shaking once or twice a day to agitate it. Once it was dark and "coffee looking" (technical term there) I strained it through a coffee filter until all solids are removed using a fresh filter for each straining.

I then took the jar with my extraction and put it in boiling water with no lid for 3-5 minutes to evaporate as much alcohol out as possible.

My results were a very black coffee flavored liquid that would have made a black coffee drinker happy. Needed sweetening for my taste and like I mentioned before it didn't have a lot of vape because I used pg instead of vg and I like a super vape cloud.

Wasn't harsh and everyone who tried it liked it.

Hope that helps
