The other day, I replaced the coil head in my nautilus, and I immediately got a burnt taste. It's a 1.6 ohm coil, and my Provari is reading 1.6 ohms when I check it, and I turned my voltage all the way down to 2.9, and I'm still getting a burnt taste when I vape. I made sure to wait at least 20 minutes for the wick to prime, and I also took a few "primer pulls" on it before firing it. So I gave it some more time to wick, but it still tastes burnt. Anyone one else have this problem? I'm wondering if the coil/wick was defective right out of the package. I hate to toss a brand new coil out, as I'm currently running low on them, and it will be at least 4 more days before my new order shows up. Thoughts?

Bad coil can happen but it is NOT the coil that is burnt. it is the little bit of liquid that did reach the coil.

Stop throwing away possibly good coils and soak them in alcohol instead(vodka) From now on, try adding a drop of e-liquid to the wicks before installing the head. This will help to pre-prime/soak the wicks.

I had issues with the heads myself. I rebuild mine now and live them.

Also, try letting the atomizer soak in the liquid for about five minutes before taking a hit. It takes some time for juice to reach the coils in an Aspire tank. Try primer puffs too (hitting it without pushing the fire button). Again, adding a few drops directly on the coils help, too.

Update: I took the head out and replaced it with a new one. Everything's back to normal, so I'm led to believe it was nothing more than a bad wick. I looked at the head that was giving me problems, and it looks like the wick and coil were shoved in too tight, causing the juice to not flow properly. Oh well, I tossed it in the rebuild pile, will sit down and rebuild my old coil heads later this week, once I receive my supplies in the mail. Thanks for the help everyone.
