My husband makes all our juices and has been told that he actually puts in more flavoring than most venders do. We are at a loss ourselves. I'll probably talk to ~Shado~ about it tonight if we get to hit vapechat.

I've learned in most of my mixes that too much flavor actually makes the flavor muted. I'm sure our resident juice expert, Kent, will chime in soon.

Could be that you are using too much flavor and over the course of a couple days, as it's steeping, it's actually losing the flavor. With flavorings, once you go past a certain threshold, rather than increasing the flavor, you are actually overusing and losing the flavor.

Well vapechat was useful to solve my problem! It has been suggested that i eather eat crackers to scour my tastebuds or take a swig of hard alchohol to clear them. Haven't tried either yet but i can taste the french vanilla flavor Joe made for me last night! Thank you ~Shado~ and Roc for the suggestions. Now to find some hard alchohol that isn't two year old extremely cheap vodka we already have! It's nasty.

DIY is an art that takes patience and practice. Despite the fact that I am a vendor, I very much encourage DIY because it provides vapers with a level of insight into the process. In short, it makes them better consumers... they come to the table with a basic fundamental understanding of the respective components of eliquid, what they do, and how to order based on the requirements of their specific devices (since there are literally thousands of atomizers out there to choose from, all with different intricacies). Hawk is a guy (if he was around) that could give you great insight into DIY because he is so good at it. I think I heard Jake or Pitt say this once, but it rings true... DIY is all about YOU. No one else has to like it or enjoy it... you don't have to pander to the lowest common denominator... you just have to make a liquid YOU can enjoy (or, in your case, you and your hubs).

With regard to % of flavoring - every component you choose ultimately causes variation in the others. One change, however slight, can have a dramatic effect in the end product. Ultimately, DIY is about finding components that jive well with your personal taste. You mentioned soy based VG - obviously a no-no for you. That said, I *do* use soy based VG in *one* of my mixes because it seems to jive better with the flavoring I use.

Also, what is helpful, is doing some research about how flavoring is made. This is where it gets complicated, and this was the hardest part for me to learn. Breaking down flavoring to the actual chemical components is the single largest contributor to being able to make multi-flavored blends. Beyond knowing what is in there... knowing how they react with each-other is extremely helpful. All Strawberry Flavoring is not created equal. Here is a short list of some of what is contained in a single flavoring...

amyl acetate,
amyl butyrate,
amyl valerate,
anethol,
anisyl formate,
benzyl acetate,
benzyl isobutyrate,
butyric acid,
cinnamyl isobutyrate,
cinnamyl valerate,
cognac essential oil,
diacetyl, <<<NO ELIQUID SHOULD CONTAIN THIS
dipropyl ketone,
ethyl acetate,
ethyl amyl ketone,
ethyl butyrate,
ethyl cinnamate,
ethyl heptanoate,
ethyl heptylate,
ethyl lactate,
ethyl methylphenylglycidate,
ethyl nitrate,
ethyl propionate,
ethyl valerate,
heliotropin,
hydroxyphenyl-2-butanone (10 percent solution in alcohol),
a-ionone,
isobutyl anthranilate,
isobutyl butyrate,
lemon essential oil,
maltol,
4-methylacetophenone,
methyl anthranilate,
methyl benzoate,
methyl cinnamate,
methyl heptine carbonate,
methyl naphthyl ketone,
methyl salicylate,
mint essential oil,
neroli essential oil,
nerolin,
neryl isobutyrate,
orris butter,
phenethyl alcohol,
rose,
rum ether,
g-undecalactone,
vanillin, and
solvent.

It's near impossible to teach in a venue like a forum - but I can tell you, taking the list of above ingredients, how to isolate 2-3 of those chemical compounds to make that strawberry sweeter, more robust, more authetic, more candy-like, or - if you really want - make it taste like a raspberry. LOL

They don't grope properly in Georgia....to laid back. Not enough vigor or anger.....
I like some good OL Braska fondling.

Been a busy week or so and a stressful month or 2. Hopefully I can pull it together and be around more.
Is mod holders the cause of the ruckus elsewhere? That's pitiful.....

I'm sorry, papa! Need me to rub your stress away? You name it, I'll do it! It's my understanding that mod holders caused the demise of it......I posted a link to the new thread a couple pages back.

I'm really glad you're back.....it's just not the same without you around!
Time for me to hit the sack! Love you long time!!

That's why I love you man. Most juice vendors would discourage DIY......not you. You do encourage. Had you not I probably would never had tried CLS and HAWKSPIT....cuz I was quite content with my own grogs. You inspired me to try to elevate mine above the kitchen sink.
Of course I did it by using yours with mine, but technically still DIY.....right?

That's quite a list of components....most are foreign to me. Would love to hear a brief description and/or nuance that they provide....
I've got to mix tomorrow. Been really digging my 555 as a base to play off of and I've burnt through 30ml very quickly....

We thought we were getting somewhere with my problem. Joe made me a french vanilla flavor that I could actually taste. I had switched to a carto for a couple days so my husband could take a look at my vivinova tank since i was having some problem with misfires and a funky almost metallic taste. I switched back to my tank yesterday afternoon and gave my carto to a friend who had lost her e-cig. I was doing fine with the tank for a few hours. then i set it down for a bit and when i came back to it the flavor was gone and the metallic taste was back. I've have tried putting my tank on his twists to see if a higher power would work. nothing. i can always taste his flavors in his agati and he can taste mine just fine in my vivinova. I'm bout to go back to cartos to see if that helps again.

Nobody actually wants to stay in GA.. Just sayin'

Had you been with me, where we were, you might change your mind.
I've got some pics from the wedding with the mountains(yeah...mountains...not rocky type....but mountains nonetheless) in the background.
We were in a little tourist trap burg called HELLEN. We were about 40 miles from the wedding sight(all inclusive resort...$400 rooms...beautiful, but OL Hawk doesn't spend $400 to sleep....youknowwhatimsayin??)
Very pretty.....
