I had a hard time with my first wick. I oxidized it before I rolled it, then I couldn't get it tight enough. The next wick I didn't make it as thick and I oxidized it after I rolled it. The first wick worked for a couple days then it quit wicking. I pulled out the first wick and started messing with it again. Finally got it rolled tight enough and I've been using it ever since. I think the first wick that I actually used was about 1.5"x1.5" the one I have in now is 1.5"x2". I'm gonna try maybe 2.5" next time.

How do you wrap your coils? Do you just wrap directly on the wick, or the drill bit method, or???

I just wrapped directly on the wick after I put it in the hole....

I'm to stupid to play with drill bits...and you should always wrap your wick after putting it in a hole..
Common courtesy dude....
I just wrap a wick like I know what I'm doing:laugh:....whatever....

I never pre_flamed and it seemed to make it "slippery".....it just wouldn't "grab" and roll tight...
But I'm.a duh....SOOOOOO

If I feel as if I have extra time to play, I will "pre-coil", set, fire up, slide wick in, etc.. Most of the time I have just wrapped around the wick, while the wick is in place.

I haven't tried pre wrapping the coil....I figured if it works fine wrapping it while the coil is in place why do something else??? I'm kinda easy like that....:D
