I am at the end of rope here. I ordered 240 ml 50/50 18mg from WL and over 15 flavors. Have ran through most of my base and flavors and haven't liked anything I made or maybe am just a bad cook.

I like tobacco flavored stuff and usually am fine with Dekang kinda ejuice - have definately noticed their Desert Ship is not what it used to be. Love rawr Poison, just had a little of my Xmas present Gandalf and loved it, waiting for it to steep. Also like Ry4 from ikenvape. These are my indulgences, like a fine bottle of bourbon, once in a while.

Looking to save some monies as kinda underemployed for some time :( and need to get something going to enjoy. I am not even dreaming of being 20% of the stuff above. Just looking to cook something up that is vapable on a daily basis and have some fun to it. I usually cook in small batch, 9.5ml base and 1 ml flavoring.

Someone has recipe for me to run with - what flavors, what proportions. I want to keep my faith, and money, and give it one more shot.

Take a deep breath, we'll help you.

Can you give us a list of what you ordered? Most of the vapes I make are fruity/minty and I have little knowledge of `tobacco vapes, but we have experts who can help you.

What did you mix and at what %? and did you let it steep?

Wow, we're all beginning to sound the same

Wow, we're all beginning to sound the same

 Yes we are. We know the basics and what happends when we have a problem. We know what questions to ask.
Zipy, Tobaccos can be tough, and most need a bit of steeping. As much as it may seem simple DIY takes a bit of a learning curve. Don't give up and dont throw away your "projects". They may be horrible now, but vapeable to really good with some steeping.
It sometimes takes a bit more than Order Nic base, vg/pg + flavors from wizard. Mix vape and enjoy.

We can go in depth about recipes once we know what you have on hand.

Are you keeping a journal?

You are using an e-liquid calculator right? It may be silly to ask, but you didn't speak much in percentages.

Vendors, percentages, VG/PG ratio is all important information so people can better help you, and give you tips on what to try.

I've been doing DIY about a year now and from personal experience, tobacco is defiantly tricky. Fruit, sweet vapes are much easier to get a handle of.

I have oredered 555 Type DK Tobacco, Black Honey, Double RY4, Tobacco Falvor Concentrate, Tobacco Absolute, Captain Black along with others like Belgian Waffle, Caramel Candy, Vanilla swirl etc.
My idea was initially to do a Tobacco with underlayer of some of these flavors. I started by 9 ml base, .75 tobacco and .25 flavor. No mass. Then I went to 9 ml base, 1 ml and .25, still no mass. Tried several other variations. Usually steep for 2 days.

Then I gave up on this complexity and tried something simpler like 9 ml base, .5 to 1.25 tobacco. Still nothing worth vaping. Again steep for 2 days. Need to mention that I mix, Keep for 4-5 hours, then put in tap hot water for 30 minutes, shake hard and leave for another day or so.

You may not be using enough flavor... It's hard to tell. If you're using an e-juice calculator, can you copy what percentages the calculator is telling per flavor?

Let me shoot you an example recipe I do:

"Pineapple Puff"

10ml 25VG/75PG

Nic-4.17ml --- PA Pineapple: 8% 16 drops

VG: 2ml --- Capella Vanilla Custard: 2% 4 drops

PG:2.6ml --- FA Vanilla Tahiti: 2% 4 drops

Using that juice formula, or something similar may help make it easier for you when duplicating your recipe. For example if you do come across something you really like, and want to make 50ml of it.

All that information comes from the calculator, and I write it into my notebook. So do you have any idea what % you are using or are you just adding flavor according to what you think seems good?

I've heard MTS vape wizard from flavor art is really helpful with tobacco juices. Don't quote me on that though.

You need to download ejuicemeup. Never leave home without it!

I use 100 mg nicotine, but you have to be extremely careful with it. Use rubber gloves, and KEEP IT AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND PETS.

No, I have not used the ejuice calculator. But, 1 ml in 9 base (10 total) would come to around 10%?

I haven't made any tobacco flavors. I believe you need to add a little ethyl maltol to the mix; how much I don't know. My understanding is that tobacco flavors need a little sweetener.

I would also go for no more than 10 ml batches until you find the right recipe. Just my 2¢

Edit: Download that calculator!

flintlock, I was typing when you were replying. Thanks for the heads up on steeping. I will make a couple of 20 ml batches and keep for a month.
Any suggestions on recpies, flavor concentrates etc.

You have already got some good flavors. Try 555 at 10% and add Peanut Butter or some other nutty flavor you like at 5%. Then adjust to your liking. RY4 at 15% is good right out of the bottle with the heating method you use. You can add Caramel, Vanilla or Black Honey to it. I find that fruit or candy flavors don't do well in tobacco mixes. Nutty flavors like Black Sesame, Black Walnut or Honey Wood flavors do well.

Some tobacco flavors, you may even want to try (from what I've read) at 3 or 4% then adjust higher as you find what you like. Such as Flavor Art Pertique Black can be very harsh. The tobacco absolute for example, that I see you have, even when it's diluted 50% is still very strong. You would want to try that starting at 1% and work your way up as you like.

When you begin to change small percentages, this is where having a calculator and a notebook can be really important so there is a "control" per-say of what's what.

Capella's Flavor Drops is typically an easier flavoring to work with. No tobacco flavors. A lot of people claim 15% for most of their flavors, work. Their vanilla custard more helps make flavors more smooth, creamy, 2-4%. Capella Flavor Drops - Over 75+ Water Soluble Concentrated Flavorings I love their strawberry, Boston creme pie, watermelon, the harvest berry isn't too bad.

Taste is subjective as you know, and what makes advice sometimes difficult because I can't really say those flavors I like, you will like. I do know Capella has many fans, and many people who claim them some of the highest quality flavoring. High quality, can come at a cost.

Have you tried https://www.ecigexpress.com/ for DIY supplies? They have many, many flavorings to choose from. Also, you can get one bottle of Capella's to try as opposed to buying through them directly. Flavor Art brand is highly concentrated, great bang for buck. Flavor West seems to need too much flavoring to be economically friendly for those of us on a budget. Flavor Art you're good starting at 3% with some flavors and working up. Alcohol based super concentrated flavorings that have gotten very popular, are love or hate. I find them quite one note. Not a huge fan, but I do occasionally add them as a note to other flavors. These can easily over-power a recipe so best to start at 1% and work your way up with them.

Many people rave about Flavor Lab

Have you visited the recipe room to help give you some inspiration? E-Liquid Recipes

Best of luck. If your goal right now is just something "vape-able" maybe try for something easier right now, just to have something to vape, while you work on tobaccos that need so much steeping time. Go for your favorite flavors. I love grape for example, and I always have a grape juice I vape. Just bought 4oz of grape juice from Perfumer's Apprentice.

Here & There
For beginning tobacco DIY I recommend the super concentrated tobacco flavorings offered at ecigexpress under tobacco express and at Vaping Zone under super concentrated. Add 2.5% and vape easy beasy. I also find for me that I like the Hangsen/Essence line of tobaccos best after a week steep also available at both places mentioned above. For ecigexpress these will be in the tobacco section under essence flavorings with the same maker Hangsen. Some people like TFA and some don't. Its best to compare.
