Need a tool

Does anybody here know of a tool I could use to separate the tip from the atty when they get too stuck together? Generally they just fit nice and snug and come apart pretty easy, but on occasion it's like they're welded together.

I don't want to injure either the tip or the atty so I need something that will grip them without hurting either one. Anybody know of a small gripping tool that might work? (I've already tried soaking the parts in hot water, it didn't work)

A pliers can work if you wrap the tip with paper a few times. You may want to try some #47 and #36 orings from Lowes or home depot once you get it off. 10 orings for 2 bucks in the plumbing section, brand name Danco. It will make your tip looser then the orings that come with it. If you don't think you can get it off without ruining it, i can get off for you if you send it to me.

One thing to try is moving the mouthpiece backwards and forwards rather than trying to pull or twist off.

I find the t-tip does not fit all of my atomizers. Usually if I get one to fit I have trouble getting it off. I just put cloth on the tip and give it a good pull and it comes off. I can't wait to order some of the tips which are shorter and have a bigger hole. I don't particular like the older T tip.Also I want the aluminum. I think they may be lighter than the brass.

The Brass ones weigh 3 times more then the aluminum, so yeah, the aluminum is quite light. If you switch to the smaller orings listed above, you'll find them much easier to get on and off.

I just smear a tiny bit vassoline on the O ring. I works good but has to be redone every once in awhile.

Putting it in hot water won't work, that causes the metal to expand. If anything, putting it in the freezer might help because the cold makes the metal contract.

I have found the tip gets stuck occasionally, however I find twisting it back and forth a few times while pulling usually loosens it enough to pull out.

Thanks for all the great replies and suggestions. I only have one that neither my husband nor I can get off by twisting and pulling and shaking and praying. It's on there for the long haul. I'll get some of those other O-rings and give them a try.

Actually I really like the way we don't have to worry about the tips falling out of the atomizers! It's just this one that's giving me grief.

It has to come off eventually... try sticking it in the freezer, ya never know.

Yeah, let me know if that works, if you can't get it off without hurting it, feel free to send it to me and i'll chuck it in my lathe and be able to get it off that way without hurting it. I can shoot you back some of the thinner orings too when i send it and your atomizer back. Ship to:

I never had one get stuck but this physics class is sort of fun. <g>

Being that the T-Tip is MUCH heavier/denser than the atty wall, you might try removing/twisting/pulling the T-Tip while you fire up the atty. The light atty wall should heat up and expand much faster than the T-Tip -- especially if the T-Tip just came out of the freezer.

(I almost want one of mine to get stuck now) LOL

Maybe put it back in the freezer and make some hot water. After ten or so minutes take it out and insert only the atty in the hot water for a second to expand the thinner metal.
Maybe that'd do it.. Dunno..

Seriously, I really appreciate your offer but I do have a couple of others I can use, and I can actually use the stuck one too. I think I'll make a trip to the hardware store, although I do have a calf-puller I could try first.....

TWF -- did you try to fire up the atty after freezing the whole thing? Or gently heating up the outside of the atty with a bic lighter where the atty meets the T-Tip? These are two dissimilar metals -- my theory should work, dammit. LOL
