If you want to use your existing carto's,you need the riva or ego,the riva has slightly more power than the ego. With a 510-808/901 adapter you can use the 808 carto's on most 510 batteries or mods. The riva 750 mah or ego 650 mah offers about 4-5 times the charge life of the standard 808 battery, the ego, kgo, vgo are also available up to 1100 mah or more, not sure about the riva,as I have never used one.The riva is also available with a native 808/901 connection, sometimes the draw on a 808 carto is very stiff or not at all with an adapter.Unless you use the xl carto or some kind of carto tank, frequent refills are here to stay
A bottom feed boxmod solves that problem with a 3 or 6ml bottle of e-liquid,but they can get pretty pricey for a nice one,a plastic bottom feeder is a inexspensive way to find out if that works for you

less charging = bigger batteries. You've got to make a decision, you can take a mid-step up to the Ego 900mah, or you can go the whole hog into Mod territory using 18650 batterys that will last you days.
But remember, as you head towards the upper tier, the prices start to increase dramatically so pick decide upon a budget and then post the question again.

I think the suggest of a better battery PV and using adapters is a good suggestion.

But why have the new person locked into to paying $12-$20 for batteries with the eGo or Riva when he can get the same or better performance, in relatively the same size PV and only pay $4 for batteries? Look at the E-Power for a better alternative for a "beginner" PV:

Standard 808 cartos tend not to play nice on standard ego and at least older Riva -- the resistance it too high. If you haven't yet tried 808 XL or Mega batteries, that's one obvious choice -- at 380 mAh they last noticeably longer than the classic 808 standard battery (280 mAh).

There are Mega/Jumbo 808 cartos. NHaler sells them (as do others). For me, I stay with standard 1ml cartos, leave the rubber tips off, just top them off from a 6ml bottle during the day -- seems to work well for me, though people's styles vary.

I definately agree. I know several people who went from 808 to e-power and love it. My husband and I also have one. We got ours at hoosierecigsupply. Super fast shipping. I switch around a lot, but my husband went from 808 to e-power and still lives by it. He has an adapter and still vapes his 808 cartos that he loves so much. He rotates with dual coils so he can vape other juices too.

What's the reason to, on average, pay $16 for batteries when you can get better batteries for $4 with the E-Power.

Different people have different tastes. You may like the e-power. Others may not. There is no perfect ecig kit. If there were, we would have a very boring forum here =)

"What kit should I buy?"
-the perfect kit, its perfect
-get the perfect, everyone else has one
-have you looked into the perfect?
-buy a perfect
-i'm happy with my perfect

How boring is THAT?

I started with the 808, soon upgraded to the Riva and never looked back. I don't consider the 808's a waste of money because they introduced me to ecigs. Liberty Flights has Riva kits for only $30 after the 20% discount. Pickup a 15 pack of Boge LR (2.0 ohm) cartomizers from crystalclearvaping.com for $20 and free shipping. You'll be good to go for quite some time. It's an incredible step up from the 808 system.

Also get a drip tip or two. That way you can try dripping onto the atomizers that come with the Riva kit. Plus drip tips are great with cartomizers, way better in the mouth than the end of a carto.

If you are at all handy and think you can solder, you can build a 3.7V boxmod really easily and cheaply. I went 808D to a 14500 3.7V boxmod with 808 connector. With my 808 cartos on it, the vape is virtually identical to the 808 experience only without the constant recharging. I take a fresh batt when I go to work in the morning and it will get me through until I get home at night (I do toss in a fresh one at that point, so about a batt and a half a day for me).
Parts can be had for less than $10 and if you do it simple it's a little drilling and three or four solder connections. I actually prefer to leave out the LED and just go bare bones utilitarian, but that's my style with most things.

The eGo, Riva and E-Power are bascially the same kit. The first two just cost 3 times more in the long run. It's not about how they vape. It's about paying more for less.
