I do have an eVic. I like it and use it a lot. It's my "desk vape". I'm not sure I would be content to have it as my only option.

Yes, the firmware can be updated, which is a good thing. How often it will continue to be updated in future and what features will be added, if any? I have no idea. For that reason, I wouldn't base a purchasing decision on this.

The metal parts are not stainless steel. I think the tube is brass with an anodized aluminium shell (not an expert in this area). It does not look as nice as steel and some people have described it as "spangly". I have not personally see any other finish offered with the unit, but you can get different coloured tubes and top separately. There are also some great looking stanless steel tubes and tops available from various modders (By Leo, Kir Fannis, Siam mods - google them, they look great).

Here are my pros and cons:
Pro:
If you like the look, it looks good.
OLED screen is probably the best I have seen.
Firmware is updatable.
Can be vaped while charging.
Profiles (fun but not essential).

Cons:
If you don't like the look, it's kinda ugly.
There are cheaper mods with the essential features.
It's perhaps not the sturdiest mod.
Its big. Not as big as a Vamo in big mode but, unlike the vamo, can't be used in small mode (unless you buy a different tube).

The atomizer is the heating element used in all e-cigarettes. In some cigarette-style e-cigs the atomizer is a separate piece that screws onto the battery. A third piece (cartridge or tank) containing liquid fits onto the atomizer. Atomizers can also be used without a cartridge for dripping directly onto the coil.

A cartomizer combines the cartridge with the atomizer in a single piece. You can refill the liquid when it is empty and when the atomizer starts to wear out, you just throw it away. It's not entirely without drawbacks but it is convenient and easy to use.

A clearomizer usually consists of a tank that surrounds a post that contains the heating coil. There are bottom coil and top coil styles. There are pro's and con's to both. They are pretty cheap so it won't hurt to get a couple of both. Just do a search for CE style clearomizer/cartomizer. I found the vapeing for beginners video at tasteyourjuice.com to be very helpful.

Thanks for all this info my man! Why would one drip onto the coil. What are the pros to that? Also what is a clearomizer?

No problem Brian. A lot of people like to drip because the flavour is clearer. It's also a good way to test different flavours because they're easy to clean out and less is wasted.

A clearomizer is a development of the idea of the cartomizer but instead of having filler material saturated in liquid, it has a reservoir filled with juice. Wicks dangle into the juice to carry it to the atomizer. The advantage over the cartomizer is that you can see how much liquid you have left. Typically, they are also easier to fill and have replaceable atomizers so they are not disposables.

I just got my MVP yesterday, and I love it too! If you want to PM me, I can give you the info on a quick (shipping) American vendor; with the special coupon code, you can get an MVP (comes with special charging cable) and two CE5 clearos for $55. Some other places send them out with an iclear 16 or iclear 30 clearomizer. I think the lowest price I saw with the iclears was $59.99.
If you're not too concerned with throat hit, I don't think you need a device with a lot of power.

Never mind. I didn't read the post where you said you got an evic.

Did you say you have only one cartomizer? If it came in a pack, I would suggest to try another and see if you have the same problem. If you don't have more than one (and you like it) you should get some more - they are cheap. If you're not totally in love with the cartomizer, get a couple of clearomizers. I personally like the evod and it should play nicely with your evic.

What carto did you get? Mine kinda did the same thing but not as high at yours. It will fluctuate between 2.4-2.6. Not sure of this has anything to do with it but I notice the change when I'm heavily vaping and burn the liquid (it gets darker at the bottom). This only happens on my iclear 30. The protank works flawless.
