You've never vaped before?

Try taking the vapour into your mouth first and then inhale instead of direct inhaling like a real cig. More like drawing on a cigar, then inhale. It could help a little.

If you're new to vaping, a lot of people say that the first few days is hard on your throat and that it goes away with time. It took about two weeks for me, but I stopped using PG because it was too harsh for me. Now I use only VG. A lot like to use PV and VG mixed because it's decent vapour with a throat hit that isn't as hard as all PG.

Menthol will also be kinda strong on your throat because it's a strong flavour.

Nicotine is meant to be a contributing factor to throat and lung irritation so maybe stepping down your nic level could help.

Try inhaling differently or VG or VG/PG mix. Make sure to keep your water intake up and you should get used to it with time.

I'm not familiar with the prodigy so I can't help you with the device itself. Isn't it higher voltage? Not sure...

your body will get used to it...I used to smoke camel lights and when I went to an e-cig I went with 11mg and it was SUPER harsh at first....2 days later it was just like smoking a analog and smooth and mellow. I than after I hard quit for a couple of months I broke down at a party one time and had an analog and it was SUPER harsh LOL. I think its just that our body gets uses to the different delivery system or something? Then again you will probably get flooded on this thread from people who say...."you might have an allergy to PG" and try a 100% VG juice. If I had a nickle for every time I heard that on this forum I could retire LOL. There is about 95% chance it has NOTHING to do with the PG, I would say it's just the new way the nic is getting delivered to your lungs...I would say give about a day, and at first maybe only inhale half the vaper from your draw. Thats what I did. But dont believe the hype on the PG being the problem. I think the stats are about 5% of people have an allergy to PG in the USA. But on this forum I swear like 75% of the people have an allergy to it LOL, I guess its the hypochondriac world we live in LOL

Happy vaping!!! :)

If it's an atomizer, you should check to see if it has primer on it -- it isn't supposed to be harmful, but tastes cruddy. Blow through it onto a paper towel, then prime it yourself with a couple of drops of eliquid.

Also, drink LOTS of water. The liquid is a humectant, pulls water out, which contributes to coughing (at first) and hoarseness. It becomes unconscious (drinking water when vaping) over time.

When I first started I about choked myself to death with the freight train like hit lol. There is a learning curve and I agree with what Leftfield said about taking the vapor into your mouth first then inhale. I was hitting mine like a cig when I first started and thats how I got the freight train reaction. There is a learning curve but you will get the hang of it before you know it :) Good luck

haha, oh man, yeah, first time hitting my 510 and tasting primer. Bad times!

There's a chance you need to give the atty time to soak up juice too. They tend to need juice "under" the atty before they'll happily vape off what's on the coil. If the coil is dry it's like sucking on the spout of a kettle when it's just boiled. Just hot air and puny but really hot vapour.

Hope it works out for you! I've heard good things about the prodigy but if I think the ego is too big for me sometimes I don't think a mod will ever help.

Possibilities

Primer in the atomizer
You bought crappy 100% PG Chinese juice or other crappy juice
Too much nicotine
Too low ohms atty/carto for starting out (lower resistance/ohms = more heat)

And just in general - it is a bit harsh to everyone at first. Not as harsh as any of the above but it makes most cough at first to breath something unusual. Especially if they have 100% PG juices or too high nicotine for themselves. Once you have decent juices and get used to vaping, it is cigarettes that will taste totally disgusting.

Warmer liquids helped in the morning, which was convenient because I drink coffee :) But - it seemed to fix that harshness in the morning, and after I pushed through it in the mornings I didn't notice the harshness anymore.

Drink lots of liquids throughout the day, now is a perfect time to increase your water.

You can overcome that :)

thanks for the help everyone...@mark it could be the primer...i didnt blow the atty out, i just wiped the inside with a Q-tip...and also another Question, i've been hearing alot about removing the wick within the atomizer...is that good to do?...do i need the wick?...really apperciate all the help guys....

HAPPY VAPING!...

Dont remove the wick unless you ONLY want to drip with the atty. I wick needs to be their to make the "tank" system work. Or to make a cart system work
