Look what happened to the numbers on this syringe after only 2 uses. I didn't scrub them or anything harsh. After use I used warm water to clean it out.
My 3ml is looking just like that, but Ive used it more like 30 times. (I change flavors a lot) I'm getting it replaced this week with a bunch of extras.
My suggestion is to try different brands. There are chemicals in some of the flavors that eventually do this to syringes.
I just ordered a 25mL pipette pump and Class B glass pipette to use for mixing. I'm thinking this is the most efficient since its usable until the glass breaks, and it's can accurately measure to tenths of a mL.
Ditto the clear box tape ... just wide enough to cover the whole syringe barrel in one wrap. I can wash off the whole syringe and wipe it down with no worries on the markings. Be sure to get it on straight, tho!
If you're looking for lab-quality accuracy, you can go to Mohr Pipettes; I got mine on Amazon and it works a treat for measuring small amounts of flavoring when I'm doing small batches of test mixes fine-tuning a flavor. The only downside, if you're not comfy using a three-valve pipette pump, they're kind of a PITA ... on the upside, learning to handle the pump isn't hard at all ... YMMV
