I am getting nervous about the FDA. I would like to stock up on some nicotine but am not comfortable with the thought of dealing with pure nicotine because of the toxicity.

I know I can get it already mixed with pg/vg and am wondering what would be a safe nic level for me to handle. It also seems like I read that the shelf life of nicotine is shortened if it is premixed with pg/vg, is that true? And what is the shelf life if I keep it in a cool, dark place?

Lastly, where is a good source. FSUSA has it pre-mixed but it's only 30mg.

I would like to know what you folks think because I know you are experienced with handling the stuff.

Thanks for your help.

Well, pure nicotine is going to last pretty much forever, not even a bear can get near the fumes without dying. PG and VG have 2 year pharmaceutically required expirations, so yes it's going to shorten the shelf life. If you haven't read thoroughly and practiced DIY, do that before stocking up on concentrated nicotine. Getting advice from experienced people will not make you experienced.

I bet you got a kick out of me saying I wasn't comfortable with pure nicotine! I got a chuckle out of it!

I read the guide and some of the other links. I also looked at the ejuice calculator. I'm still confused. Say I got 30mg strength in an 80pg/20vg mix (like what FSUSA has) then all I would have to do is add the flavor. But when I look at the calculator that doesn't seem to be the case. Would I still have to add water and vg to a mix like this?

I'm trying to keep it simple for myself and really want to just know if it is doable. I work full time and don't have a lot of time to devote to this. So I'm looking for something quick, sort of like instant breakfast where you just add milk.

Never mind, I just figured it out! Of course I would because I'm not going to be vaping 30mg strength! Duh! Just ignore me, it's been a long week.
Great post by the way. Lots of good information.

I have been studying Dan's calculator and am beginning to understand it. I vape 70/pg30/vg. What I haven't been able to figure out is if that is the ratio I want to end up with would I dilute with the same ratio or is there an easier way? I'm wanting to order some soon and just want to be sure that I order the right blend.

If you want to dilute what?
What are you planning on starting with? A 70/30 mix or 100% VG and 100% PG?

If you go to the diy area of fsusa they also have 100mg/ml in pg available. I'd use good rubber gloves and be very careful. If you got some of that and flavorings, pg, vg, you'd be set to diy your heart out if the need/whim should arise. I keep my nic locked away for safety;)

That's what I'm asking. I want to end up with something along the lines of 70pg/30vg. So I'm not sure if I would start with all pg and work down or start with a 70/30 mix of nicotine. I'm sorry if I seem stupid about this but I am!

No trial and error required (unless you're using massive amounts of thin flavoring). Add 1 part water/vodka/PGA to 4 parts VG.

Tip: warm the container of VG before using it. Heating it to about 100 degrees makes it thinner and easier to measure. I place my bottle in a pan of warm water, wait a few minutes then add some hot water to the pan. Be sure to loosen the cap first to avoid pressure buildup.

Thank you all for your patience. I have trouble understanding this stuff. It doesn't help that I live in a remote area with slow internet. I have the fastest I can get here but it's far from high speed. I could do my research at the office but that plays havoc with my billable hours! I do think I know enough now to at least place an order. I'm anxious to get that done so at least I will be able to buy some time depending on what the FDA decides.
