I am getting the 60ml amber glass bottle of 100 mg/ml nicotine in a 100%pg base from ejuice4u. any Idea what the shelf life of that is? I was just wondering before I buy a ton and it goes bad. Oh and does anyone know where I can get pure nicotine? not sure I would want it though since I don't have a fume hood. I do have a full face gas mask though.

The shelf life is about 18 months. You can extend the shelf life to over 5 years by putting it in the freezer. Unlike water NIC in either PG or VG does not expand so there's no chance of bottle breakage. I am currently storing about 2000ml in the freezer in glass bottles. It has been in there for the past 6 months. It's a very common practice for most DYI'ers.

As far as pure NIC that is a taboo subject here on the forums and should not be discussed. The strongest strength that should be used is 100mg.

What happens After 18 Months?

You may start to get some oxidation but NIC very rarely will loose it's potency. You may notice a change in taste, smell and color (Often taking on a stronger chemical or tobacco taste). It's safe to continue using if these changes don't bother you.

Gotcha.

I have found that I get Oxidation much sooner than 18 Months when stored in a Cool, Dark Place. More like 3 or 4.

The more exposure to air the Nicotine gets, the faster it'll oxidize, so if you're mixing often, leave the cap off for periods of time, etc, then you'll begin seeing color changes quicker than you would if you simply did a few mixes here and there.

I have a 500ml bottle of 100mg/ml from Wizard Labs in the cabinet right now and it started off clear and is now a light yellow due to my constant mixing and opening of the bottle. It doesn't mean it's bad or out of date, it's just from where air has come into the bottle over time.

Yeah... More Air, More Oxidation.

Also, the Higher the Nicotine Content, the More Noticeable the Color Change. At Least for me.

That's why I split my 500ml bottles of 100mg/ml Nic into 60ml amber glass bottles and put them in the freezer. I just have one 60ml bottle out to work from. It limits the whole batch to the constant exposure to air. I'm not saying it's necessary but it makes me feel better ;)

Cheers,
Steve

Edit I have ~ a liter in the freezer split into 60ml amber glass bottles - I'm looking for long term storage. That's why I do it that way. I find 60 ml is ~3 months supply. For me that's enough to have out at any given time. YMMV

As I'm pretty constant with my flavor percentages for my ADV's I'll mix a 250ml bottle of 65vg/35pg/14ml base (Compensated for flavor percentage) and the rest of the NIC goes back into the freezer. This way I avoid the constant open and closing of my NIC solution. 250 ml's of base will last me 2 or more months.

Kool. I am kind of playing mad scientist right now trying different stuff so I have a 2/3's of my 60 ml bottle gone in a few weeks you know trying different strengths and flavors/flavorings you know and some of it gets wasted some of it goes too fast etc so I was thinking of buying in quantity but I was afraid if I bought a ton it would go bad before I got to use it. I have been buying in the amber glass bottles I figured they wouldn't offer the option if there wasn't a reason but I wasn't real clear on what it was. Is nicotine photo sensitive or something? I was not aware of that if it is but heck even if it isn't with some care and cleaning I'll have some nifty brown glass bottles lol. I appreciate the response guys. I looked but didn't immediately see my answer and didn't feel like sifting through the tons and tons of stuff here reading unrelated threads to glean the info the hard way.

P.S. as a side note I quit smoking over a month ago now and since I ditched the Blu's and got something that worked a lot better I have not wanted a cigarette at all. I say that is awesome! YAY VAPING!!!!
Thanks e-cigarette forum for helping to save my life!!!
