I need some help changing from 6% nic to a 10% solution. I downloaded the e-juice me Up program but I can't seem to wrap my mind around this. Here is a very small batch that I used the 6% solution: 48 ml Nic, 16ml distilled water, 64ml flavoring, 192ml VG. The Nic is 10% in a 100%VG. I'm sure this comes easy to some of you....wish it was for me. I appreciate the help!!

Welcome to the forum, glad you joined us. Looking at your "small batch" formula, using 10% nic VG, I doubt you arrived at 6%. You are diluting 48 ml of 10% with 262 ml of flavoring, water, and VG.
You can't get to your target of 10% using 10% nic, unless you vape it unflavored and without distilled water.

Thanks for the reply Storm :) I am afraid I am more confused. I need the end result to be 6% nic but using the 10% (100mg/ml) nic solution. Someone gave me the recipe I am using - are you saying it is incorrect? Thanks for your patience!!

Welcome to ECF :)

Seems to be some confusion, somewhere.

First you mention going to 6% from 10%. And then maybe a bit of clarity - you say your nic is
The Nic is 10% in a 100%VG.

(What it's "in" doesn't matter except for how you want your final PG/VG ratio to be. You seem to want it thinner than max VG, by adding water. Maybe consider your next batch of nic in PG, as that will thin the mix a bit and likely also result in more flavor.) That means 100 mg/ml. By extension, your goal of 6% is 60 mg/ml, and you probably don't want to go there! Pretty potent...

I suspect you're after 6 mg/ml, not 60. If that's the case,

Working backward to get percents,

(Not sure wy the app is showing a negative number on the PG, but just subtract that from the listed VG and it's right.)The 19.2 ml of "nicotine ejuice" is from your 10% / 100 mg/ml bottle.

Much better to do recipes in percent, rather than amounts, lots easier in the long run, scaling amounts up, down, and so forth.

You'll see I plugged in 100 mg/ml nic in VG, and your stated flavor total is 20% of the mix. If that's two or more flavors, just watch you don't go more than that total, or adjust the other values if needed.

And, mixing 320 mls, I hope you like it! Most of us mix smaller batches, just in case ;)

And,

Merry Christmas!

The place I get my nic from was out of 6% so I had to order the 10% nic solution. Maybe I am confusing you and me both! LOL I want the end product to be 6%, not 60.

I think that the flavoring is all PG. Does that help?

That always happens when I use that calculator. I'll subtract it :)

The original recipe was percentages. Maybe I messed up somewhere?

Thanks for the reminder! I just prefer to make large batches of flavors that I already know that I like. If I were trying something new, it would be a smaller batch. Thanks for your help and Merry Christmas to you too!

Big batch of known likey, no problem :) I'm a "flavor chaser", and have 12 mods always going, 12 different flavors. A few are regulars, and they do get mixed in larger batches. The rest either 30 mls or 10, depending on the recipe and how familiar I am with them.

Yes, most flavoring does come in PG, and that will provide a little thinning.

Perhaps to avoid confusion, start thinking in ml/mg, NOT percent. In the realm of nic, it's a magnitude 10 difference!! So your mix will be 6 mg/ml of nic. 6% nic is, uh, 60 mg/ml....

The original recipe was percentages. Maybe I messed up somewhere?

While that's always possible, the numbers you came up with seem to calculate out. Maybe post the original and we can double check? But IF your nic stock is 100 mg/ml, i.e. 10%, the screen grab I posted should get you there, to 6 mg/ml.

The distilled water is to thin the mix. I don't go there, so can't really give any recommendations, but it seems a bit high to me.

Side note, most of us do get (did get? we're stocked!) our nic at 100 mg/ml. Cheaper no matter how much you dilute it. And makes the math easier. PG or VG base is user choice. If looking for max VG, get it in that. I run about 65/35 PG/VG, so get mine in PG.

Personalizing the vape is just another element of vaping that puts it way beyond smoking!

thanks for taking the time to explain this....I now understand!

That is the truth right there!
