Ok after a month of vaping with a few cigs here and there I've been off cigs now for a little over 3 days. Doing fine, edgy at times, but fine but I am not getting the large hits of vapor I desire off of my eleaf 20 and a kanger emow 1.8 coil. I'm using 50/50 18 mg juice. Started with an ego c twist. I like the eleaf, that said should I upgrade to a 30 with the new kanger clearomizer, wait for the 50, although I don't think I really need 50 watts. All I know is I need to get a heavier vaping experience and less dry hits. I do not want to have to keep buying gear, I'm just looking for a satisfying vape, so if someone can simply tell me what I need to do. Thanks.

Hello, one question. Are you getting the dry hit at low watts or high when using the emow?

I use a nautalis mini with my eleaf 20 up around 4.4v and it works great. I have also found my KFL works better at lower volts. I would experiment with a new coil and start off low and work your way up till you get a sweet spot and hopefully your performance come up.

For a second, I thought you wanted to get your dog vaping... But seriously, if you are finding your current setup not satisfying, you might want to try an RDA instead of a clearo; you get more control over the type of coil you put in it, and the flavor from an RDA is really more intense than in most tanks! Good luck!

both, the dry hits are hit and miss, I keep experimenting with the wattage. If I go to high it taste burnt more often.

1.2 on the coil? I think that's a low as I can go with the emow

To me it sounds like it is time to experiment with a few different delivery devices to find one or more that suits your needs/wants.
The tiny pieces of wick in bdc heads just don't have enough surface area & wicking ability to keep up preventing dry / burnt hits.

The more efficient they are at wicking the less dry hits, IMO for replaceable head clearo's it is hard to beat these;
Aspire Nautilus w/ bvc heads.
Beyond vape Silo tank w/ bvc heads.

Then there is a bunch of re buildable tank style atty's / RTA's if you want to get into that.

jcolom - First, you are not alone ....I'd guess most of us newer vapers are in your boat, or have been recently. I am 5 mos in, and feel almost the same way.

I think most of us eventually desire more flavor/ vapor density than the older clearomizers provided. I was using Kanger Protanks and felt the same way.

If you're interested, there's a thread here on a less known tank out there getting some good reviews: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/clearomizers/642824-eleaf-gs-air-fan-19.html#post15182560

I've been posting about it because it's a $10 tank. I am gonna give it a shot....for that much $, I won't be overly disappointed if it fails me.

I think others suggesting the istick 30W or 50W are giving pretty solid advice again. It's a big step up in performance from what you are using, and should give you some options down the road if you want to try the sub ohm tanks.

Most likely, your setup isn't satisfying you. I've discovered that I shouldn't stay in that limbo too long. In the short term, trying out some new gear can get spendy...but in the long term if you kick the smokes, you will probably save some $.

I just assessed my finances over the 5 mos I have been vaping...and even though I thought I was spending a lot on vape gear, I am still about even with smoking. It's been more enjoyable...and I am convinced eventually the spending will slow up. Good luck regardless of what route you take on the gear.

your 20w mod should be sufficient for the kind of vape production that you're talking about The first thing I'd recommend is trying some juices with more VG than PG. a higher VG ratio will give you more vapor, and help reduce some of the throat hit that you're surely getting with that 18mg juice.

Secondly, I'd recommend a tank that can handle a lower resistance. the 20w can handle down to 1ohm, so I'd consider one of the new Kanger SubTank options that uses the 1.2ohm OCC coils. the flavor is magnificent, and pairs really nicely with the 20w istick. The nano is likely you're best option, unless you'd like to start experimenting w/ rebuilding, and if that's the case, i'd definitely go with one of the higher-wattage devices that can fire sub-ohm coils in order to get the most out of them.

I must agree with the recomendation of a R.D.A. you will find with a R.D.A you usually wont get leaking,or gurgling. Also your coils will last a LOT longer than a premade coil. With a R.D.A or R.B.A once you try it you won't ever go back to the premade. The taste is so much better with A R.B.A the difference is amazing. You might also consider a more powerful unit. Even if you don't think you will ever vape up to 50 or 75 or above watts a unit like that has more power and will run a R.B.A with ease. When I first started vaping I was like you searching and I went through about ten units in 6 months. I just wished someone had encouraged my to get a more powerful and advanced device from the beginning and I would have saved so much money on units that were not powerful enough to achieve the results I was after. I suggest investing in a good solid unit now so you can grow into it as you advance in your vaping journey. I'm finally comfortable with my device and with building my R.b.a s. When you look for a unit look for a variable voltage and wattage unit so you can experience a more customized vaping experience. With different flavors you can adjust the wattage to give you your perfect vape. Also look at the specs of the unit and see what it allows your coil to run at. Some units like newer box mods allow a sub ohm down to .3 and some .1. Check those specs. Also look at the battery life. A removable and rechargeable battery is nice. My unit has dual removable batteries and I get three days of heavy vaping before I have to recharge which is nice. Also read reviews before you purchase your unit and see what others think of it. In my opinion and experience for a great vaping experience I would go for a higher wattage mod and a rebuildable tank. That has given me the best results and I've tried the other things as well but this set up is more satisfying. You might look into something like that. Building is not difficult. It takes practice but it's fun and the reward is great. I do hope this helps you out. I wish you the best.

Or, try an RBA , and RTA and another tank. See what's best for you . Get the mod that will grow with you and the things you want to try.

I have a Marquis RDA coming from FastTech that was $11. Yes it is a clone, and I don;t know if that is morally wrong or not. I am giving it a try for the first time. If I don't like dripping I don't want to be $150 invested into a high end dripper.

I also have that $10 Eleaf GS Air tank on the way. I'm still trying to choose my next mod........right now the IPV Mini 2 is at the top of the list. It's 70W capable, nice and smallish , and should run anything i want in the future. It's chip has a good reputation and it can be had for about $60.

I'm so proud of myself for being cig free, I don't want to screw this up now. I'd like to try a cig again maybe in a few months, but I think at this point it's important for me not to smoke, or am I being too hard on myself till I find my perfect set up?

Don't beat yourself up over a couple butts, it's a process! Nobody is perfect so if you happen to feel the need to have a stinky, do it.

Everybody told me it not about the ones you smoke at this point, it's the ones you have avoided!!

why can't I walk into a B&M and get simple answers like this?

It all depends on the B&M you walk into. Mine (multiples) can and do. I spent an hour this afternoon talking about just this type of thing at my favorite vape shop to someone who just quit a couple of weeks ago. He has an EVOD2 tank on a VV stick and he's looking to enhance his vaping. I let him try my IPV mini and my homemade Spearmint liquid in a Kayfun Lite tank. He really liked the vapor and the increased flavor. Then he tried an Atlantis (the vape shop's) on my mini and was blown away by the sheer volume and intense flavor. He didn't buy anything today at the shop, just asked a lot of questions and got a few answers. I think he'll be back later this week when they get their istick 50s in and pick up that and an Atlantis after today's visit. And no, I don't work there, I just spend a lot of money there.

With what you currently have you can't really beat the Nautilus or Mini Nautilus.

As far as other tank recommendations those include a new power plant. I love the Atlantis Sub Ohm tank but you need a device that will fire a .5 ohm coil. I am a huge sigelei fan. Lots of interesting 50 watt devices coming to market. I couldn't imagine today upgrading and not at least getting a 50 watt device. You will be able to fire tanks now and RBA/RTA any time you decide to take the plunge into rebuildables. I personally would look for one where you can replace the batteries. I swear there is a dual 18650 50 watt mod out or coming soon but I can't remember which one.
