I'm about to receive my first rebuildable for the REO ..... a Mark Bugs Challice.

What I'm wondering is if any vendor lists kind of a starter pack containing different wires and wicks ???

It would be nice to get an assortment and then decided what I want to buy in bulk.

Any such thing exist ??

If not anyone recommend a few good wires and wicks to start with and and a favorite vendor for them ??

I'm kinda lost when it comes to supplies and I hear the wick and coil that comes with the challice is not that great.

Thanks.

Tim, I sure don't have any answers but sure appreciate your questions. I haven't learned about nor invested in the rebuildable attys yet but I'm more than willing to sit worthlessly in the background and eventually reap the benefits. Just wanted to let you know I'm behind you all the way.:)
What are pals for Roger your all right :)

Hello Tim the only problem with the wick and coil that come with the chalice is the coil is rapped to tight . The wick needs some room to expand . You can easily loosen it up .
Bulk
Silica Wick 2 Mm-Silica Wick 2 Mm Manufacturers, Suppliers and Exporters on Alibaba.com

You can find it on ebay and some of the e cig shops . I think I want a monster roll . Your going to love the chalice it is a wonderful atomizer

Well thats great news right from the man himself. Thanks.

Thanks Tim. You have always been a guy that we could count on to steer your fellow vapers in the right direction. You've done it more times than I can remember. You're a class act.

By the way, have you noticed how much better Robert is feeling these days? Full of piss and vinegar and downright feisty. :)

Rebuildable Atomizer Coils - Avid Vaper
Tim, Avid Vaper has these pre-coiled wicks....I got some and they seem to be okay. They're cheap, and a place to start. I have had my Chalice for about two weeks now, and have amassed quite a collection of wicking materials. I have some Kanthal A-1 32gauge wire that I got off Ebay, but I think lately it's been sold out. I'd be willing to send you some....enough to get you started. Also, there are a couple of really good threads that you could/should read....it's where I learned all about it and now I'm going great guns....and loving it. I have the following wick materials, and I'd share some of each with you:

SS mesh - #400
SS mesh - #325
SS mesh - #270
Rolled cotton (like cotton bandages....CVS or Walmart)
two kinds of cotton cheesecloth (organic and bleached)
organic cotton yarn (sewing store) -- MY FAVORITE SO FAR
regular cotton yarn (Peaches and Cream from Walmart - 100% cotton)
Silica wick (from Avid vaper)
candlewick (internet)

These threads are very, very informative:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...e-atomizer-prototype-initial-impressions.html
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/284030-wick-materials-safe-vs-dangerous.html

Let me know if you want to try any of my wicking materials. The cotton wicks are great....I boil it and let it dry before I use it, and it's great. I've been vaping on a coil I made last week for about 5 days now....made out of organic cotton yarn....and it's really, really good. I'd be glad to send you guys a "care package" with samples of all the things I have, if you want.

EDIT: whatitstrue, that means you, too. :)...and anybody else who is interested/curious.

Thanks JC, I found the Mark Bugs thread after I posted here. I actually posted in it thinking it was the one in the REO sub forum before I realized it was in the atomizer review sub. I read through it after posting and it had some good info.

Thanks for the offer but I'm going to order a few things and pick up some of the wick suggestions locally.

I'll probably have lots of supplies before the chalice even gets here :)
I cant wait to try it out.

So far I've found this to be the easiest for me to use - I can cut about an inch of it, wrap my coil around it, and then trim it a little more (I'm using a vertical coil), and then fray the ends. It was mentioned in one of the threads somewhere along the way. I boiled it and baked at 200 degrees for a bit just on general principles:

Pillar Candle Wick #3 square braid cotton 25 feet unprimed candle wicking | eBay

I also use some kanthal 32-gauge wire I bought on ebay some time ago - looks like it's gone up a little in price since then, but it's still pretty cheap.

For the record, I've also tried 400 SS mesh and unbleached cheesecloth from Bed, Bath & Beyond. I found dry hits on the SS mesh to be HARSH, and prepping it takes some time. And the cheesecloth worked fine but was a little putzy to work with, at least compared to the candle wick. I'm sure I'll revisit both at some point, but the candle wick is just a lot less hassle for me for now.

Yeh, except for the SS mesh and the silica, I got all mine locally. Found the threads and yarns at either Walmart or JoAnn's Fabrics, and the rolled cotton at Walmart or CVS. I got the organic cheesecloth at Bed, Bath & Beyond, and the regular cheesecloth (bleached and looser weave) at Reasor's. [Reminds me of the old days of searching for Blue Foam for my 510 carts....the "good ol' days... LOL. We have evolved......but I digress.....]

There are some pretty cool videos on Youtube demonstrating various processes for various rebuildable attys and atty/tank systems. After watching those, I'm really thankful that I got the Chalice as my first (last???) one.....some of them seem pretty complicated.....of course, now that I have one and have been dissecting it and playing with it....I get it. [I can remember when a Smoke51 seemed complicated...."now, where did he say I put the liquid?.....and how much did he say I needed?....oh, I put THIS end in the charger?]

I seem to be going through lots of juice (Thank God for DIY) and lots of batteries.....but I can't tell if this thing uses lots of juice (both kinds) or if it's because it doesn't leave my hand or my mouth from the time I wake up 'til I go to sleep. This is the best vape I've ever had, and I'm vaping a LOT.

I can't wait to hear about your experiences when you get yours, Tim. And the offer stands....for you or ANYONE who is interested in a "sample pack" of some of the materials I've collected just for this new adventure. The wicking materials are really cheap.....and you gets HUGE amounts (compared with the tiny amount we actually need for a wick) so I probably have about 150 years worth of everything. I'd be very happy to snip off a few feet/yards of anything anyone wants to try out. I'd label it and say where to get it. Of course, I needed yet another shoebox full of "stuff" related to vaping lying around, so I imagine you may, too. After putting some of my DIY stuff away, I found a bare space on the kitchen table. Couldn't have that....

Anyone wants to try anything.....just let me know.

Oh, I forgot...I got some candlewick, too. Forgot to put that on my list. I've found the very best (so far) wick for me is the cotton yarn. I got some from a fabric store that I'm using. I also got some Peaches and Cream yarn from Walmart that I haven't actually tried yet. I agree with the SS mesh and dry hits. The SS Mesh is my LEAST favorite wick so far.....

I'll be trying some 36 AWG kanthal wire and 1mm fiberglass wick from Vapor Cigzz in my ERA when it comes in. I'm currently using 32 AWG kanthal and the silica (2mm?) wick that came with it. It vapes very nice, but a buddy that has been using all sorts of rebuildable attys for quite a while suggested I try the fiberglass wick.

This is the wick I'm using. It's easy to work with and lets the flavor of the juice come through, but you CANNOT let it get dry. When it's dry and you hit the power, it goes FOOF and burns away to ash.

I'm using 34ga nichrome, and I find it to be too thin. Two wraps and I'm already at 3.0ohms. I've learned to double it up and twist it (it looks like a roundwound guitar string when I'm done) and I can now make LR coils with 4 or 5 wraps. I'll be using 32 or 30 when this batch runs out so I don't have to double it up.
