So I recently got some 26 awg did 8 wraps 5/64 bit dual coil. Getting 0.6 ohms. I've tried a variety of wraps and diameters but still can't seem to get under .5 ohms. Do I need less wraps or smaller diameter? FYI I have panzer blackhawk clone which I plan on fixing voltage drop and trident clone (sorry not richy rich) that needs center post filed down to accommodate larger awg. Any advice? And yes I have plenty amp limit.

I'm using the same guage with 10 wraps on a 2mm drill bit which is coming out at 0.8 and settles at 0.9. This seems to work really well heats quick, plenty of coverage providing heaps of vapor and a nice throat hit. Do you mind me asking why you want I go lower?

Looking for a good dense throat hit, with flavor. When I smoked I would double hit my cigarettes. I've gotten close with .5 build and want to see if .3 will be any different. Not trying to chase clouds, right now my .6 is making my mod heat up more than I'd like. I would like to vape a variety of flavors but might end up having to stick with mentholated to get what I'm looking for. I like the freedom of building my own coils but I haven't found the right build yet.

I know. It's not the battery that's heating up though. And I haven't needed to hit it as many times to get an adequate vape.

Sense I'm a curious kind of guy - what do you suppose is the source of the heat if it's not the battery? I know the coil will heat up the topper but it shouldn't heat up the mod itself. I'm just curious, that's all. :)

Try nano coils. Easy to get .5 or below with a 28 gauge single, depending on wraps. Immense heat and flavor- and the vapor is massive as well, but you've said that wasn't a selling point. I find that only my dripper heats up like crazy, whole mod stays cool even at my lowest of a .18 ohm dual 24ga ultra nano (wrapped on a 23ga needle)

This should give you everything you're looking for. And changing flavors is a snap, because you just stuff a cotton cloud under the coil. Takes about 10 seconds to totally change the cotton on 1 coil.

I should have clarified better, the atomizer heats up considerably and the top of the mod. Not the mod itself. Either way I haven't had any of my other builds at same ohms heat up as much or as quickly.

A good start would be to measure the resistance of the wire off the spool with a meter and find the point that equals what you want, then cut and wrap, leaving the leg length you need to install it. 32 gauge (smaller wire) will make it easier to get lower ohms. 28ga is larger wire and will need to be longer than 32ga. It's not exactly accurate because some wire is broken off after installation and you have to account for that.

Once you find the length that works, measure it when you change it the next time and write down the length for subsequent coil making.
