need help getting to SLR

Hi Everyone

Id like to give SLR a try, but I cant seem to make a coil that measures a low enough resistance using 31 ga kanthal. Yup..its a dumb thing, but I have 100 ft of the stuff and would like to know if I can get to .5-.8 ohms with it.

heres the equipment i have right now...
sigelei #20 stainless button
AW IMR 18650 batteries
IGO-L rda
31ga Kanthal A-1
3mm silica from fasttech
pure cotton butcher string
cotton balls

im a little nervous about twisting or doubling up the wire...just because Ive never done it and dont know what it would accomplish and how it would act. wouldnt taking a longer piece of wire and folding in half to double it up or twisting it essentially make it longer, thus increasing the resistance?

am I coming at this all wrong?

I've also been thinking of trying a micro coil, but I'm not ready to wrap something that precise yet...
Still learning about rebuildables...

twisting kanthal would half your resistance. ie if youre getting 3 ohms with a single strand of kanthal, a double twisted would give u a 1.5 ohm. its very easy to twist it. i use an electric drill and it gets the job done fast.
