Sorry this probably isn't the proper section for this but as a new member I'm very limited on the sections I can post in.

I've been vaping for about a year and a half using a ego-c. It works but its getting old and I could use some newer and better equipment. I've been looking at suppliers sites and reading but not getting too far understanding the more advance equipment so I'm hoping to get some help with that. I'm a DIYer so I'd like to get something I can rebuild, plus the atomizers on the ego-c seem to last not too long before they don't work as nice as new so being able to put in fresh wick or whatever seems appealing. I see the tanks and atomizers are sold as separate units with no mention of battery requirements or what they will even mate to, do they all have a universal thread or are batteries standardized that much? I have a feeling there is something obvious I'm just not seeing.

I'd appreciate a nudge in the right direction so I can get started learning this.
Thanks,
Ryan

I think will most will recommend a variable voltage or wattage mod. iTaste MVP would be a good choice. Pro air would be a excellent choice if you want to speed a little more coin.

You also can't go wrong with an Ehpro Kayfun Lite Plus V2 as an atomizer.
By variable voltage mod, do you mean this is equipment I will need to modify or is it something I can buy/bolt on?

I googled the iTaste MVP and not a fan of the form factor with the big rectangle body. I came up blank trying to find the Pro air. Looking into the Ehpro Kayfun Lite Plus V2 now. Do you make your own heating coils or buy them? also not seeing any sort of a wick in any disassembled pics I've found yet.... just started looking though. I see it has a 510 thread which gets me a little closer to understanding what to power it with. I see the 510 thread mentioned a lot but aside from being a 7mm x 0.5mm thread it doesn't mean much to me yet. I don't have my thread gauges or calipers accessible now but that looks like what the internal thread on my ego-c batteries could be - at least just by eyeballing it. If thats the case, is that atomizer designed to use the ego-c batteries?

Sorry for what is probably a bunch of stupid questions but thanks for at least giving me a place to start my homework!

Can try the itaste svd looks sick, or a vamo, or a mech clone(to many good ones to list) with a kayfun topper or rda can't go wrong. Most mods use rechargeable batteries that are cheap to buy, 18650s are very common but their is a plethora of choices depending on the size of the mod.
With any rda or rba you will have to build your own coils.

hey Biff, welcome to club ECF !

here's the tip of the iceburg... :D

your run of the mill thread ends on most today is “510/ego”
most all topper tanks are either 510 or ego threads
battery is rated by mAh (eg;1100mah ego battery)
bigger mah, battery charge lasts longer

you can choose to get changeable battery type + a charger, (like a flashlight)
or a self contained battery (like the ego)
then your topper tanks, glass or plastic, single or dual coil, 510 or ego
top or bottom coil, capacity - (1.5ml, 2.5ml, 5ml, 6ml etc)
then a lot of the coils you can rebuild and use cotton for better flavor

lot of info, lot of choices -- a few good vendor sites
here’s a good video, a good presenter, to kinda give you an idea what lays ahead...

good luck, keep asking and let us know how it goes…

Ooooooooooooo, - variable voltage just means you can adjust the power output

of what device you're using as compared to a device that only outputs one steady, set power...

it allows you the ability to fine tune to the resistance of your coil and juice combination...

Welcome on your journey. Keep posting your questions and thoughts. That way you will get to move all around this Forum and learn more. You will learn so much from this forum. I did the same thing early on and glad I did. I tend to go for US made (quality, jobs). You might want to check out Provaris. Very solid. Great customer service. I also love my Reos but I get from an earlier comment that you might like a tube mod better. Presently, I'm really enjoying the Kayfun Lite Plus from Svoemesto. I find it easy to build (cut my teeth on a Reomizer for my Reos). KFL's are tanks and you build the atomizer. You may consider getting a cartomizer tank (I prefer IBTanked) so you have a back-up. The best advice I received was "have a back-up for your back-up."
Happy journey.

Wow thanks for the info everybody! Now I have some reading to do. Desperaci, thanks for the clarification. In other hobbies a mod usually involves firing up the soldering iron. New hobby and community here so a new vocabulary I need to learn, sorry for my confusion. And thanks for the links Zeppelin, saves me a lot of time googling and possibly wasting time reading the wrong thing. I'll do some research and hopefully be back with some better questions.

Sorry that was suppose to be provari. Gotta love iPad auto-correct. And by variable voltage mor, a mod is what we call the device itself. A term you should come custom to hearing. Variable voltage, variable wattage, mechanical... They are all mods to us.
yep! How the heck the iPad gets Pro Air out of ProVari is a mystery to me, I've made the same mistake several times.
Great suggestions by the way!

The Sigelei Zmax Telescope is also a popular variable voltage/variable wattage mod around here. It can handle 18350, 18500, and 18650 batteries by screwing the bottom barrel in an out to fit the length of various batteries. That makes it able to be a short, medium, or longer mod depending on the batteries you have on hand. It handles up to 4 amps current draw so you can

About $65 depending on where you buy it.

Hi Ryan ... here's what I would do to step up your vape ... first, get verified here on ECF.

Then cruise the classies and buy a Provari for @$125 ... and buy a Kayfun Lite Plus V2 for about $75.

Watch some youtube videos on how to setup and wick that bad boy ... lastly, find awesome juice.

you can thank me in 3 years when you're still vaping the same setup ... still using that same first bag of cotton and still working on that first roll of Kanthal

All this depends if you want to rebuild or not. If you do, a Kayfun is a must IMO, easy to build, taste is awesome and it does not leak. Devices.. well, all depends on what you like. Mech mods are nice but expensive (if you go authentic) but tanks are not so good on them, a dripper is really good on a mech but you have to like to drip.... If you want something that's built like a tank, never lets you down, you could go with a Provari, these just wont die, they are awesome. Also, a DNA device is something to look at, with this you go all in, tanks and drippers.
