Need help on getting BIG clouds out of my atomizer

So I have a h-cigar Steam Turbine clone with dual coil and silica thread. It works great but if I take a long drag, the wick doesn't take in enough juice and I get the burning taste in my mouth. So to all the mech mod veterans of ECF, please help a noobie out. How can I get huge clouds out of my atomizer without getting the burning taste in my mouth?

Picture of your coil setup and specs would help to troubleshoot this.

I have found it really depends on the liquid that you use. At first, I used a pure VG blend and it tasted like ...., but I got huge clouds of vapor. I have recently been using a 60VG and 30PG blend, and though I get less vapor, the flavor tastes AMAZING. Also like CreepyLady said, higher resistance would be good. If you're already sub ohm I would not go lower. I have also found that the more excess silica that I leave the less I have to refill my atty(I only run at about 1.3-1.6ohms), I am sure this would be a similar effect with getting more juice to the coil…therefore not getting a burnt taste.

I am no ECF veteran, and I have been trying to figure the same thing out…but I hope this helps!

Why does everyone have a huge downer on cloud chasers? As long as you have the knowledge, what's wrong with it? As long as it's not done in a public setting (Save for a vape shop), it doesn't harm anyone.

Other than, of course, the people who have been vaping for a week and want to build sub-ohm coils with no idea about what they are doing.

This is a personal journey for each of us. I have thought about chasing the clouds as well but have not taken that leap yet. Not sure if it would be worth it once reached. I vape for my own reasons and staying off the analogs and not wanting to choke the nearest individual is a big part of that reason. Chasing the clouds is a sidebar and I will range that way one day. If for nothing more that to say I have done it. Whether I like it or not will have to be determined at that time. Radio_Soldier, chase whatever makes you happy and keeps you on the path! Ther are plenty of people out there that will help you get to where you want to be. Just keep asking and do research. You'll make it!:headbang:

I personally don't have any issues with cloud chasers. Having said that, I do worried abut people who push the limit. Vaping is still a sensitive subject in our society and we don't need any bad press which will stick out like a sore thumb. If things go bad, having a burning hot coil a few inches from your face can only be really bad. If everyone used common sense on safety and understand what they are doing, we wouldn't have any trouble. But when kids see people building quad coils and blowing a cloud that fill a room, they jump in. Like kids wanting NOS in their car without knowing anything about it.

Perhaps it because many realize that being able to use a website calculator for Ohm's Law isn't complete engineering "knowledge" I've seen few if any posts discussing the concept of 'Factor of safety' as it would apply to sub-ohm, cloud chasing or vaping in general. Doesn't matter if you're a n00b or vaping for years, incomplete knowledge, or even worse "Internet knowledge" can be very dangerous.

Here's a quick and dirty definition and description...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Factor_of_safety

Buildings commonly use a factor of safety of 2.0 for each structural member. The value for buildings is relatively low because the loads are well understood and most structures are redundant. Pressure vessels use 3.5 to 4.0, automobiles use 3.0,

Of course you would also want to figure in the "Factor of Ignorance"...the extra safety factor that will be engineered into systems because if a human is involved, disasters will follow....

All very true. I know at my local B&M I see people asking about quads and sub-ohms all the time. Luckily they take the time to teach them properly. Generally one or two very well built coils will be better than four mediocre coils. And of course you have the people who go to a public place that is nice enough to allow it, and they bust out the .4ohm quad coil mechanical and make it look like a 5 alarm fire.

This thread would become enormous if we discussed all the different things that will effect the amount of vapor produced.
    Here is one small example:
Same wire, same wick, same number of wraps.

    Small cloud

    Larger cloud

The way these RBAs are designed I won't expect getting huge clouds of vapor from them. You have to treat them like dripping atomizers where you constantly put drops of liquids to moisten the wick. I have the RSST and it's not producing the desired vapor. It's fine, but I'm better off using normal cartos.

I'm impressed with the Rocket Kayfun, though. I've never had something that produces such clouds of vapor. (I avoid recommending anything here. It's all a matter of personal preference. You'll really never know until you try them.)

I didn't mean all. Kayfun is an RDA. I meant the ones where the tank is under the coil. I haven't tried the others, but I can see that the RSST's dome is too large, the slow wicking mech is not the main problem in my case. That's my relative noob perspective, though. I'm still learning.
