So, every day or so, I do a dry burn on my atomizer. I don't do it for very long, I just read that this helps burn off any junk. However, I keep getting this AWFUL burnt taste out of my atomizer now. I just got some new juice, and I can't figure out if its my atomizer or the new juice. But the taste is just terrible. If I have scorched an atty, is it a goner or will it eventually not taste terrible? Thanks

Try blowing out the atty and then dripping a few drops of another liquid directly on it and then puff away until the vapor decreases.
You might have to do this several times.

I got to the point I don't do anything to my atty's except leave them in the carts and setting it down on the top end of the cart so they drain during the night.

I've done in a couple with trying to clean and I'm sure not going to intentionally run it dry which causes it to over heat.

No, I've been dripping, so no cart filler. I would like to point out that when I drip, the first maybe 5 drags taste okay, then I'll randomly get this TERRIBLE drag. This all started when I started using liquids I got from DIY Flavor Shack. All of this has happened with all of the different atomizers I have tried. It is either I somehow scorched all of my atomizers or this liquid may have tainted all of my atomizers o_O The liquid is a lot thicker than the liquid I had been using, could this have something to do with it? I'm so frustrated. Makes me want to go buy real cigarettes :(

I dunno what a jewelry store uses for cleaner, so you may have a point there. I use distilled water when I',m cleaning mine in the lab. May ask if they could do that, just use distilled water. The sonic bath does a great job of cleaning though. Just make sure you get them good and dry before you use them. It may not be cost effective to have them cleaned that way...you could always boil them.

I give my attys an occasional vodka bath for about 15 min, then dry them as much as possible with a paper towel and let them dry completely over night. I also do this with new attys to get the primer out, rather than burning it off.

The sonicator is a nice idea, but I don't have one or have access to one. Maybe in the future, but vodka or rubbing alcohol will get out everything that I have done to them. I can tell they need a bath when they get harder to pull through and gurgly.

I calls em as I see em. All I know is I had no problems till I used this liquid. I have tried her juice in three different atomizers. All of the juices start off with some flavor, then taper off very quickly, and become very hard to draw. I end up with lots of juice in the atomizer but little smoke and almost flavorless. The only one that seems to be okay is the apple flavor. The coffee flavor from the flavor shack has notoriously started off okay, after about 3 drags it starts to lose flavor/vape, after about 7 I get a terrible burnt taste. I ordered from there because I saw everyone loving their juice. To each their own, but I will never order from there again.

i have the same issue with my blu attys from constant dripping

i think what we are tasting from caked up glycerol (glycerine or VG) in the atomizer that is dried and burns a bit when dripping, i notice that the flavor only comes once i have vaped the current drip, then i start working (a couple primer puff blows and big sucks, no homo) the e-cig till it becomes a steam machine... it tastes almost like smoke when it hits your throat (really harsh) and im almost sure it's build up of liquid inside of the atty. if you use a high quality alcohol or a vinegar bath, then blow through the atty throughly and rebath, when you dry the atty the taste will be gone until the vg cakes up again

which probably isnt the healthiest thing

since glycerine decomposes to acrolein and we're likely getting a good dose of that poison...

just my 2 pennies

vote for obama

I got a scorched taste from doing a dry burn, I don't do it anymore it is to risky and can cause the scorch taste. The other ways of cleaning atty's mentioned would be a better way to clean IMO.

Umm Im not siding with anyone here, but my EVO, which is about 3 weeks old, has started to taste the same as the original posters...and it was after I used coffee flavor from DIY. It never really tasted like coffee, (from reviews I was expecting something MUCH better tasting) but now everything I vape through this atty tastes like burnt coffee. I havent cleaned my atty any more than blowing it out. I have been vaping ecopure thru it but still taste burnt. I HATE this taste. I AM NOT BLAMING DIY FOR THE BAD TASTE...I am just stating what happened.

I will probably soak my atty in alcohol tonight.

I have done dry burns to my atomizer and have had mixed results.

Sometimes it works great and punches both the flavor and vapor up a few notches.
Sometimes it leads to a burnt taste like you mention.

It is not recommended to do dry burns unless you have a new atomizer with no gunk.
Supposedly this is a preventative measure to keep the gunk from building up.

But if there is already too much gunk, you can screw things up.

Personally, I use a Coke bath for regular maintenance.
But I would like to do dry burns, I just keep forgetting which is my new atomizer.
:(
