Thank you MagicJosh. Something that might help you also is Wellbutrin (It is sometimes used as a stop smoking medication. It can also help with weight loss. It is basically a very mild antidepressant. Many uses if it works. But expensive so go generic and if it doesn't help don't bother continuing to take it.) It really helped me with mood swings in addition to the Chantix when I quit smoking like 5 years ago. But prescribing Chantix and nicotine is really weird. It's my understanding that the Chantix works by giving you the "feel good" you would normally get from nicotine all day long. But if you put nicotine in your body it shuts off and you get no "feel good" and actually get a "feel bad" because of the nicotine. This makes you associate the feeling bad with nicotine (cigarettes / dip / whatever) and you WANT to quit so you don't feel like crap. So I am really confused by this prescription. Might want to discuss it with another doctor. Chantix is a no go for me. I took it and it worked great the first time around. I quit smoking for three years and had no desire to start back up. I reacquainted with an old friend and we ended up getting married for a few years. He smoked... I started back up. I tried the chantix again after we split and headed for a divorce and now it is an extremely bad idea. I have severe cramping instantly, projectile vomiting and incredibly bad mood swings. I was crying all day for absolutely no reason. Not just crying but I was sobbing as if my child had just died and my puppy and other child and mother all died as well. Chantix is not gonna happen for me. I really hope it works for you. =) That would be awesome if you can quit. Keep at it and you will succeed! Good job hun. (Seriously... I would really get a second opinion on the chantix and nicotine intake. But that's my opinion. =) )

ETA documentation: Chantix binds to nicotine receptors and blocks them so that nicotine can no longer activate those receptors (an effect that pharmacologists sometimes call an “antagonist” effect). This means that when someone is trying to quit and they lapse and smoke a cigarette, they probably won’t get much satisfaction from smoking it, and will be less likely to smoke another.2. When Chantix binds to nicotine receptors it also triggers some of the same effects that nicotine has (an effect pharmacologists call an “agonist” effect). This includes a small release of dopamine, the reward neurotransmitter in the brain. In this way Chantix dampens down nicotine withdrawal symptoms and cravings.

Oh thank you,

Im sorry to hear about your marriage and mom. I want to say if you never wrote this to me I would still be confused. Honestly I been having problems with the chantix and nicotine patches. Bad dreams and hard time falling asleep and feeling weird in general. I see my doctor this week and will speak with him about my find. If I remember, this week I will let you know what he say's. I knew something wasn't right by the way i been feeling. But, it was prescribed by the doctor so i thought it was okay. Wellbutrin, is what i will ask him about too. Anything that can help me loose wait could be a plus for ME.

I tried using Chantix two years ago. Didn't work. It is supposed to stop the effect that nicotine has on you, but it doesn't stop your craving for the "act" of smoking. While you're supposed to smoke for the first week you're on Chantix and then stop while continuing to take Chantix, I was only able to quit for one day until the cravings got so bad that I started smoking again. It also didn't help that my medical insurance did not cover smoking cessation drugs like Chantix or Wellbutrin, so I had to pay out of pocket for this stuff.....and at over $200 a month I might as well be smoking.

EDIT: Of course, with all the juice and gear I've been buying, I've been spending about $600 a month on vaping. LOL

I tried Wellbutrin briefly, for depression; it wasn't very effective on the depression, but a "side effect" I noticed: I could go up to 30 minutes after eating before smoking -- I wasn't even trying to quit smoking at the time, so I thought that was pretty interesting, though not really necessary for me at the time. But anything that can suppress the urge to smoke *right after eating* -- that's powerful stuff, because that was the smoke I always found most necessary.

However, when I started vaping, and I was afraid that the post-meal smokes would be the hardest to eliminate, actually turned out to be BY FAR the easiest -- because throat hit is the MOST necessary element to me, and after eating, vaping provides the MOST OUTSTANDING throat hit -- I had replaced all my post-meal smokes some weeks before I laid the cigarettes down completely.

My own opinion for whatever it's worth -- it's not necessary to take some expensive pharmaceutical (that will undoubtedly cause some new problem -- that's the doctor/BP racket), to quit smoking -- vaping will do that all by itself. Just don't stress or pressure yourself, but play a game, called "how many can I substitute?" and keep track of the cigarettes you actually do still smoke -- a tally sheet -- and run a competition with yourself each day to see if, without pressure, you can smoke fewer than the day before. This worked EXTREMELY well for me -- TWICE.

oh, now you've done it.....now I'm going to want to order an Atlantis. Gee, Pam, my wallet's gonna love you.

LOL Jseah,

Well you have helped me so much. I felt it only right to return the favor! =P Seriously though, there is a much bigger boost to flavor on the Atlantis. I'd loan you mine for a while to check it out but it's quite a distance for that. =) VaporAuthority has them for 33.99 for cost comparison if you do decide to get one. If you don't like it then we can swap out. I will package up the Nautilus. I like them all equally right now. So at least you won't be out too much if you don't like it.

Pam, here is the big brother and little brother. Just got my Tardis wrap today for the iStick 50 with the Nautilus. And the iStick 30 with the Nautilus Mini. My one complaint with the iStick 30 is that the buttons are much more flush (especially the fire button) so it is difficult to tell if you are pushing it.

With the Tardis wrap, now if only I could get the tank to light up and flash when I'm vaping, that would be awesome.

MagicJosh,

Chantix is notorious for extremely vivid dreams. It comes with the medication. It is also known for mood swings, severe depression and suicidal thoughts in *some* people. So mention it to your partner or friends or something and please ask them to just look out for you. It's hard to see ourselves deep in depression but our friends can help us out. But the chantix shouldn't be prescribed *with* any nicotine. The purpose of the chantix is to quit it entirely. If you want to continue to vapor with nicotine then chantix may not be the medication for you. If you are getting nicotine with the vapor you likely don't need the patches either. Are you attempting to quit entirely and have no nicotine at all in the near future or are you just trying to get off everything *but* vapor? Wellbutrin is very mild, it might help and might not. It did help me the first time I tried to quit, in conjunction with the chantix. If you have problems with your weight you might ask for them to check your thyroid and a1c levels. I have had weight problem my entire life. I was 277 the highest when I stepped on the scale. I am 135-140 now but I had a gastric bypass in 2010. So I have been through the entire range of *what could be causing this weight gain* testing. I will help you in any way I can.

Wow.. everyone has complicated lives  I thought I had a rough ride. Guess not! Glad to see everyone improving on all fronts though.

DampMop,

LOL Yup. Everyone has their own bags of manure. Interestingly, they are usually from the same type of animal. =) Life is funny that way. The question is if you let it sit in the corner stinking up the place or spread it over your garden and grow some amazing organic veggies to eat healthier.

Jseah,

Love it!!! =) How awesome is that? I haven't ordered mine yet. My dad is unhappy that my kids are home schooled and that I haven't found a job yet. So kinda preoccupied atm. But I love that. I need to get the order triggered.

I was lucky that when I was taking Chantix, I didn't have the mood swings, the depression, the suicidal thoughts (the wife was more than capable of invoking that, I didn't need Chantix for that)....and I don't remember any weird dreams, although I do remember that my dreams seemed more elaborate and fully formed (or at least I could remember more of it).

My daughter had been asking me to paint her bedroom door to look like the Tardis. I had been toying with the idea to just get a vinyl wrap for that since it would be easier.

Easier and you can easily remove it if you decide to move or sell the home or whatever. I'd say go for the wrap. But I can only imagine how expensive that would be. =/

My doctor prescribes me a nicotine patch, and chantix. I have DIP just encase i cant handle it. And a 24 mg bottle and a subtank mini filled with high nicotine. I think this strategy would work for you. But you will need a strong 50 watt device and a high air intake tank for large vapes (Hits, or drags) Tugboat RDA Or The Subtank Mini by kanger. I wouldn't suggest the dip though..That is personal. Hopefully I will get past this first half of the year with this and go down in nicotine the other half. 3 packs a day is more then i smoked. You are going to need allot of nicotine and the feeling of smoking in your lungs. It worked for me i know it would work for you.
MagicJosh,

Have you had the opportunity to check with your doc about the meds situation? :) Hope you are doing well.

Update: Thanks to you guys I am now 42 hours analog free. No promises but that's longer than I have ever gone before. :) lol thinking right now of how close the gas station is. But playing a small game with myself. No money invested in analogs from April 1. If I had regular income I would start stashing that cash away. Probably will do retroactively. [emoji14] Shipped off my Nautilus Mini to an amazing friend. Sticking with subtank .5 ohm and Atlantis. Atlantis has amazing flavor production. .5 on Subtank is close second. Checking out flavors now. :) Tiger's Blood is good but definitely ready for a switch. Looks like one flavor gets old in a day for me. So far using a mix of 24 and 6 mg. 50/50. Not sure what mg it is actually sitting at in the tank. It is higher than I'd like for throat and a little irritating but keeping me off cigarettes so leaving it alone until refill when I can do some measuring. Thanks guys for your awesomeness! :)
