Need Help w/ Conductivity!!

Hey guys,

I replaced the hot spring in my telescopic Gus G22 with a 3/20 brass screw to level out the inconsistencies i was having w/ voltage drop.

Now im looking at a Material IACS % Conductivity chart showing Aluminum (61%) and Silver (105%) conductivity when compared to copper. Brass only has a 28% conductivity rating.

Are the aluminum screws at a hardware store the same aluminum that the chart is reading at? Or are the screws only coated with aluminum?

I'm pretty sure they are all aluminum.

Im using this as a 510 center post. So your saying aluminum > brass?

Yes aluminum is more conductive than brass, but brass is easy to solder to. So unless you need to solder to it, aluminum should be fine.

yea im probably going to go copper, once my local hobby store gets them back in stock

Brass oxidizes slower than copper and especially aluminum. If you use noalox or just grease to keep air off the parts they will conduct better than brass, but you have to be diligent about cleaning them.
