hi i have only ever used a 510 and an ego , no mods no hv no vv ,so i am having alot of trouble deciding on which to order
i dont know much about vv or if i need it
i also dont know much about 6v or if i like it
so i cant decide 3.7/6 or vv any input would be appreciated
also with the vv does anyone know is there a min max point on the knob or does it just continuously spin like can you judge your voltage by the position of the knob ? or do you have to have a voltmeter handy all the time ? i mean if its min max you can kinda guestamate lol but if the knob just spins forever i dont know if id like that
thanks mike

o i forgot to add i mostly use LR306 at the moment on my ego

VV is definitely the way to go.

3.7 is great for LR306/510s and then 4.2-6 for cartos and regular attys and who knows what else you'll get in the future that needs a different voltage.

Also most people find 6v way too high to be useful, so the 3.7/6v model isn't awesome if you want to use something other than the LR attys.

Hi Wood,
An Ali'i is not only a great working bottom feeding mod, it's also a statement. It's a handcrafted work of PV art. Ryan, at R&R Manufacturing, and his dad, custom make each Ali'i. Ordering for the Ali’I takes place normarlly every other Friday at 9pm EST, and they normally stop within 15min. The waiting time once purchased is lengthy (4-6weeks), but the reward is so worth it. I started my vaping journey Dec 4th 2009. Owned a 510, e-cigar, and several eGo's (which I still love). I couldn’t decide on a mod as well. Would it be the Saber Touch, Provari, Indulgence, or the GLV. I liked the idea of a bottom feeding device. No more drip, drip. Spoke to many people who owned the Journeymen (before the Ali'i) and people that owned the Ali'i. All agreed that it was extremely functional, and quite simply, beautiful.

As you can tell, I am the proud owner of a Bubinga/Ebony 3.7/6V Ali'i. I would have gone with the VV, but Ryan was able to get this one out so much quicker, and I had both the 18650 batts for 3.7V and the cr123 for 6V vaping.

If you want to get to know this mod, I highly recommend reading every page of R&R Manufacturing:

Good luck...I hope you join this exclusive PV club soon. :)

lol ive read the forum and iv been speaking to ryan about an order aswell ive seen the videos at the moment ive decided on maple bubinga and in 3.7/6 i am mostly just on the fence on wether i need the vv , i know u can use any atty my point was i only use lr 306 attys and i dont think i can use them at higher volts , so if i get vv i will have to get a bunch of different attys i just dont know i think id be just fine but on the fence still

One thing about ali'i Variable voltage is that it goes from 0 - 6.0 and yes there is stop and start points, but here is the point of the 0 -6 thing, that means that 50% of the dial is 0-3 volts, which is totally useless, I find if I want 3.0 I point it at the atty, (about 50% of the way from 0 - 100 as it turns) then a its just dividing the rest in half, ahh screw it I will do a picture to explain.

It goes to like 7.4v if you want it. Maybe Jim is using 2 3v instead of 2 3.7v, idk but with 2x 3.7v batts it goes to 7.4-7.6 if i remember correctly.

The Ali'i looks awesome but I like metal mods for durability[/QUOTE]

Agreed...I use my ego w/a carto when I'm outside working. You need to take care of your Ali'i...it's almost like a Meerschaum pipe...I vap the Ali'i in the office, or sitting in my recliner at home.

I also use orange oil every other week to clean it...I'm pathetic :)

The Ali'i isnt what you take to work, its what you take to the gentlemans club for some cognac and a heated political debate lol. As for the 7.4 you are correct it does go up to that I image but I dunno how you would do it without burning your lips, at least on a regular atty at 5.5 volts its even way too high IMO. I just did the graphic to help get the idea, also i have noticed on mine there are points where it jumps much higher, in other words from 3-4 is much further then 5-6v in fact its hard on mine to hit 5.3 exactly it goes 5.1 - 5.5 pretty much, but thats the way pontentiameters (however you spell it) work they will have spots on them it seems.

HV Atty's. Don't you have any? You at least should get a couple 3.5's.

I take mine to work every day, it's an office. I wouldn't take it to a outdoor or dusty job. But these things are tougher then people give them credit for. Mine fell 3 feet onto a wood floor.. I thought for sure it would be in a million pieces.

Nope... the top part was wobbly but it still worked just fine and it was all in one piece. I called Ryan and he told me how to fix it that day and now you can't even tell.

But it was a big fall onto a hard surface and my Ali'i took it like a man.

I'd love to hear more... (about the orange oil, not about you being pathetic)

I was wondering what to use to clean my Ali'i with just today! (Sorry... didn't give a thought to you being pathetic... jk!)

What's orange oil? Does it clean the Ali'i and protect the wood? Make the wood more shinny?

Thanks!
