I'm using windex to clean it if it's dirty (only used it 2 times) as the instructions say. But to shine it up i'm using the tongue oil I got with my Phidias. Makes it super shiny :)

I'd love to hear more... (about the orange oil, not about you being pathetic)

I was wondering what to use to clean my Ali'i with just today! (Sorry... didn't give a thought to you being pathetic... jk!)

What's orange oil? Does it clean the Ali'i and protect the wood? Make the wood more shinny?

Thanks!

Orange oil is included in several commercial furniture polish products, because it is effective at cleaning and revitalizing wood surfaces. It also does a great job on the shine. We essentially did a partial reno on our kitchen last spring, but keep the wood cabinets, which are in pine, with a lacquer top. The orange oil totally brought back the shine and wood grain...they look brand new now.

The Ali'i has the same type of finish, and the orange oil cleans, protects, and shines the surface. A light orange fragrance also lingers for about a half hour or so. Orange Oil actually makes your woods age beautifully over time.

You can purchase this at home depot, Wal-Mart...etc. I prefer Howard's Orange Oil. They have a range of products...I've used pretty much all of them, including a restore-finish product on an old piano.

Here’s the one I use on my Ali’i:

Howard Orange Oil

BTW...I'm not crazy about Windex...it contains ammonia, an alkali, short term use on lacquered finishes is fine, but long term, no.

yea the instructions say glass cleaner i think but yea.. it seems to dull it up a bit. it dulls that shiny coat it comes with.

oops... just noticed I'm in the Canada forum!

Am I allowed in here? I'm a yank....

(nobody even asked me for my passport, or took nude photos of my "junk" or frisked me or nothin.....)

Don't worry, in typical Canadian fashion this was all done so you would not notice. The photos should appear on the internet via an anonymous source shortly.

I am a woodworker and the last thing you want to do is use windex as a cleaner. Citrus cleaner is good or Murphy's Oil. Both are specifically designed to clean wood. Glass cleaner as the name implies is for cleaning glass.

what can i say, i read the instructions lol. i wonder why they would suggest that. it obviously takes some of the sheen? shine? away. oh well lesson learned :) still looks the same. maybe if i did it a bunch of times it would mess it up.

I am shocked that Fono would even recommend that, but not surprised.

Is there a difference in battery life better the VV and 3.7/6 versions? I would think this would be the con to the VV mod.

Assuming very few would actually vape at 6 volts. Using 3.7 on a 18650 should last a while, possibly 2 or more days for a fairly heavy vaper. Where two 123a batteries specially at voltages higher then 3.7 might last half that at best? I believe I read somewhere that you could use a 18650 in a VV ali'i but it would work at 3.2 not 3.7V?

Inked had his VV at the get together last night and it does look nice. I have been mulling over the same question. Reading through this thread these are the pros and cons I am getting for VV vs 3.7/6 V option. Ignoring all the stuff that is the same on the two versions.

VV Pros
It's cool!
Offers flexibility to customize voltage for atomizer or juice

Cons
Additional $35
battery life is shorter

You got it man, the battery life is the big con of the VV. I get a day maybe a day and a half on the 3.7v. On the VV 10 hours is a lot. Your looking at 6-8 hours of heavy vaping. It's fine for me, I carry 1 extra set of batts. But it might be an issue for others. I don't know about the 18650 on the VV.
