Okay, so tonight was my first night trying a sub ohm build... I'm pretty nervous after reading alot of things

So im using 30ga. Kanthal A-1 twisted. 5 wrap around a 1/16th (i believe) inch bit and it came out to a .6 ohm single coil. I was going to do a dual coil sub ohm and wanted to try and get around .8 for the safer side but now thats its .6 I'd like to try it but want to make sure its safe.

im currently using Us18650v3 Sony 2250mah 10a High Rate Cell - Buy Us18650v3,18650v3,Sony 18650v3 Product on Alibaba.com

sony 18650 (US18650V3) in a Chi You Clone with the coil in my IGO-L.

Is the amp limit on these batteries safe to run this low of an ohm? Does the charge of the battery make it safer/more dangerous to use?

Thanks for all the help in advance!

HI
You're at 7 amps with a .6 ohm build. You can double check with an online ohms law calculator (forgot how to do links, I'm on my phone lol). Basically, you can say you're safe, but I would suggest investing in an imr battery such as an aw imr or even a mnke imr. Leaves you with more room in the amps department and a better sense of security.

Take into consideration that sub-ohm builds always have risks. Be wary, be careful, be safe, but most of all...vape on!

Perhaps you should do more research and find out what is safe before proceeding. There are resources right here at ECF that will answer your questions.

OHMS LAW CALCULATOR

AW IMR
18650 1600mah (24Amps continuous discharge rate)

Samsung hybrid (LiNiCoMnP)
INR18650-20R 2000mah (22A)

MNKE IMR
IMR18650 1500mah (20A)

If you are using sub ohm coils in an RBA/RDA, it is extremely important to use the highest quality IMR battery. Coils < 0.5 ohm require an IMR battery that has a maximum continuous discharge rate of 15 - 20 amps. Only a few batteries have this specification. The AW 18650 IMR 1600 mAh, MNKE 18650 IMR 1500 mAh, and Samsung INR18650-20R 2600mAh meet this specification.

Hmm are you running two 1.2 ohm coils (.6 ohm total), one .6 ohm coil (.6 ohm total), or two .6 ohm coils (.3 ohms total)? Assuming .6 ohm total, you should be okay. I wouldn't venture any lower than that with those batteries. A .1 ohm drop can make a pretty big difference in >1 ohm ranges.

He said .6 ohm single coil.

But you should be ok, but like other people said you should invest in a higher amp limit battery so you don't need to wonder if it's ok. I'm using MNKE 18650s and they have a 20 amp limit, which is way higher than anything I will actually use on a daily basis.
