I have been vaping for two weeks now, and so far I couldn't be happier. However recently, my Vivi Nova has started to crap out on me. I realized about two days ago that I should clean the heads I am using because they were starting to get a gross taste. I looked at my coils and they all had gunk on them.

I cleaned them all very well with hot water, then I patted them dry, then dry burned them until the coils got red again to burn off the gunk, then rinsed them again and let them dry over night. I put a coil in and right away, I noticed a massive vapor/flavor hit, and it was extremely harsh. I remember that sort of happening with a new coil, so I thought I just needed to re-break them in. Unfortunately, after two days and three separate coil heads, none of them are working like they use to. They aren't even close to what they were before. Vapor is still extremely low, and the TH is very very harsh.

They are clearly still working, and I can hear it crackle when I hold my Silver Bullet up to my ear, they just aren't working how they are suppose to. I know there has been posts similar to this recently, but after searching and scanning I couldn't find any. At this point, I am thinking my best option is to just buy new heads. Two weeks for 3 $3 heads isn't bad, but I have seen so many people talking about how they are like new once you clean them. Any ideas?

Hi Herdo. When you did your dry burns where they all "clean" looking afterward? I normallly get them cleaned to the piont of making sure each individual wrap of the coil is visible when hot. I have experienced the harshness after cleaning when I hadn't gotten all the gunk off. Second to that if it is not the case, did you re assemble the silicone sleeve and top cover correctly. I have had the sleeve slide down past the ridge(I have 2.0 so I'm not certain yours has this) above the wick slits and pinch the wick and would only get really dry scratchy hits with no good vapor output. I have also had the wick deteriorate at the center and seperate from the coil and got very similar dry scatchy hits as well.

On a side note, I make it a habit to clean the heads every few days, because it is the easiest way to keep a watchful eye on the condition of my equipment. Generally I can get a few weeks from a single coil head without giving up on it. I usually replace the head when it begins to need cleaning evey day in order to restore its usual performance. I hope one of these is your issue, and if you do find out what it is it would be good for others to have you post so we all have a resource if the need arises. Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

Thanks for the info. Yes the heads looked very clean. Almost too clean for a week + of vaping. :p I do go through one 18650 battery every 5 days or so, so I think I vape much less than the average vaper. And I agree, I should have been cleaning them more often, I just have a poor sense of time, haha. If I didn't have the counter in my signature, I would say I have been vaping a week at most.

I just checked everything, and it all looked good. I ordered two more Vivi Novas from altsmoke.com, so when they come in (should be tomorrow), I will try a new head, and see if it makes a difference. If it works fine, I'll assume it was my fault for not cleaning them enough, or possibly a poor cleaning job.

Thanks again for the reply. Considering I just cleaned them, I might try to clean the two I am not using again and see if I just didn't clean them well enough.

By the way, I never wait for my heads to air dry, I just rinse , dry burn until I think they look clean, rinse to remove any old burnt gunk, dry burn, re assemble fill and vape. All takes about ten minutes or so, I hate waiting. If you get 5 days from an 18650, then you do vape MUCH less than I do. I can go through a pair of IMR 18500 in a day(14-17hrs) and between 6-10ml of liquid at 4.8-5.5volts. Just check those heads again, to make sure the whole coil glows nice and evenly, and looks like new once you are done. Theres almost no good reason you should have gone through that many heads in two weeks.
