Hey guys,
Couple weeks back I got myself a sigelei 75w TC. Since I had no Nickel I built it with a basic dual coil Kenthal 2.3 mm 9 wraps each on 25ga. I usually use 26ga on my Kanger Subtank mini and CLT3 dripper but my Vape Shop of choice were out. ( shout out to Le Vapeur Express in Montreal). A week later I got some Nickel and went to Steam Engine to get a idea. I don't remember what gauge it was but it was very thin and pliable. Easy to wrap and play with but also very easy to break when tightening. Anyways I did 2.3mm 14 wraps. Then I started playing with the TC settings to find my sweet spot. I found that the flavor was much better and clouds were respectable with a low temp and mid wattage. Something like 250°f-300°f and between 60w and 70w. It was very smooth. Very much like a good dripper. But after a few days I would get dry hit on my second draw. I raised the temp to 450°f and lowered the wattatage to 35-40. That was OK but I lost the smoothness. Went to my shop and tryed figuring something out and the owner did a Titanium macro coil buil of 3mm 4 wraps. It was effective for cloud chasing but flavor was not optimal. I could also hear little bursting sounds and some mini drops were coming back up the chimney and drip tip. Later I tryed a Titanium build with regular 2.3mm 5 wrap coils. I'm about to go buy some wire and I'm hesitating between the Nickel and the Titanium. The Nickel is very fragile and the Titanium hasn't given me a good hit yet but I haven't tried many configurations( keep in mind that I vape mostly on a Zephyrus so the deck is small)
Also I have concerns about the toxicity level of Titanium. As an element it is much more toxic than Nickel but I don't know what blend the coils are.
