I'm sure this has been done to death however with the amount of info out there on ecigs, it can be a bit overbearing when trying to make my first purchase.

Basically, I've been a smoker for nearly ten years. At this point, I'm at a pack of Marb Lights a day and I hate it. My preferences for an ecig would be one that it automatic, similar in look/feel to that of a real cig, reliable and fully equipped for a night out.

I was a few seconds away from buying the Blu, due to the convenience of the packing that allowed for having everything you need in your pocket in case you run out or something goes wrong. After reading countless reviews, I decided against it.

What would be the best product to start with? I just dont ever want to get stuck out and about and have something go wrong and have to resort to smoking a real cig again. I'd prefer not to have to leave the house with one spare everything scattered about my pockets.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Thank you in advance.

For reliability and the closer performance of a cigarette go with a manual - 510 or 901 with a manual switch. For going out, you'll need a PCC (personal charging case) that charges batteries on the go.

Suggest here:

Widows Bead Work - E-cig

... for the kit. And...

Widows Bead Work - charge

... for the PCC. And get at least a few bottles of juice.

Widows Bead Work - carts & Juice

If you can handle it financially, the 'passthrough' on the 2nd link above is a 'nice to have' accessory that saves on batteries when you're stationary - at home, car, near computer. USB hook up.

Other vendors sell all the above of course but right now very few have them all in stock. But you could check around too. I know the Widow has everything last I checked and shipping is free and fast.

I don't think you can go wrong with a 510, 910 or an 810... I have had really good luck with MyVaporStore. they ship fast and have decent prices. Order some juice with your starter kit as the 5 included carts won't last long.... Start higher on the nic content of the juice and drop down if you want. You will need a lot to get of the analogs if you are like me. I went with the 510 and really like it. Very popular on here, but so are the 910 and 810... the only drawback is the short battery life so get an extra battery if you can and for sure get the PCC if you are away from home for any length of time...

Good luck!!!

Thanks everyone for the quick replies and all the info. I really appreciate it. I can definately sacrifice the appearance for a product that is reliable. I'm thinking of going with the 510, as everything I've read seems positive. and I was unaware that I could get a PCC for any ecigs. Just thought the Blu had it.

Thanks so much once again. Hopefully my days of smoking analog are over. I'll keep everyone posted.

Actually, another question: Regarding cartridges for the 501, what is the life of one? Again, I'm at a pack a day of analogs so how many should I expect to rip through a day/week? Thanks again.

Just got mine, and I've been putting it through the ringer. I'm about the same boat as you - about a pack, about 12 years, marlboro lights for the last several years (maybe five or six).

Right now, its looking like 1-2 carts, plus topping off here and there. I'm planning on buying unflavored juice and mixing my own - looks like placing an order on Wednesday :w00t: - and using a 3ml bottle I have as my throughout-the-day-topping-off. I'm figuring two carts because I want to have a no-nic mix to alternate with, just flavor.

It definitely feels different. Make sure you don't start out too low with the amount of nicotine - I'd say 24mg is a good place to start, I have some 12mg, some 18mg, and some 24mg - tried them all out today - and the 12 didn't help much, the 18mg delayed craving, and the 24mg knocked it out. But, ymmv.

So my 510 arrived yesterday and I've got a few thoughts/questions/etc.

First, I ordered from cignot and they were very helpful. Great customer service, quick shipping, everything as advertised. Just wanted to put that out there to start.

Next, in all honesty, I'm not really liking it. To be honest, I haven't really used it. But I think most of that has to do with my choice of flavor and nic level. I got the marb flavor 24 mg and it's just too much. I enjoy taking deep drags of my analogs and just can't do that with these. It tastes as if I'm inhaling a black and mild but sweeter. And the initial head rush is too much.

So my question is... What liquid would you (all) suggest? I'm looking for something with a solid throat hit that doesn't taste unbearably smokey/sweet and doesn't make me dizzy.

I've got 2 bottles of ecopure, one rich and one fresh, both 24 mg, that I haven't tried yet. However, I didn't order any extra carts to put them in.

Thanks in advance for the help. I hate to be a pain but I don't want to give up on this experiment.

From the thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...buying-using-electronic-cigarette-primer.html

Juice recommendations
This is the place where I repeat that everyone has different tastes.
The best advice I could give is to find yourself some sampler packs, the smaller the better.
And read up in the Juice Reviews section of this forum.

Nicotine Strength
There does not seem to be a clear pattern as to what strength nicotine you might need.
Some people find they need higher strength than they thought.
Some find that they need lower strength.

The general rule of thumb is get something maybe a bit higher if unsure.
You can always get some that is lower to cut it back with.

And you can keep some around for spiking to a higher strength if a bad craving hits you.

But if I'm going to make a specific suggestion, I would say to get some 6mg or 11mg liquid so you can mix it with your 24mg liquid you already have, until you find a strength that works for you.

As far as what flavor to get, if I was going to recommend something that might mix well with Ecopure I would suggest a stronger tobacco flavor. Buy you really might not want a tobacco flavor, so you really ought to just get a sampler pack from a place like myfreedomsmokes.com where you can get 3ml bottles of different flavors and strengths.

Edit: Looks like myfreedomsmokes only has 6ml samplers now
