the OPs never having smoked is what throws me here. i came to vaping because i was a 10 plus year smoker who quit almost 5 years and has been cheating lately and smoking here and there (more like everywhere, but lets be gentle).

i know that vaping cant be just like breathing air, so in that respect, there have to be some harms. if i was never a smoker, i would not even consider it. but having been a smoker for so long and then a failed former smoker recently, i can see it is much safer than smoking.

but to each their own. it would be my guess that the OP is younger. you remember how it was when we all first started smoking cigarettes eons ago? we thought it would relax us, we thought we would be cool, we knew there were dangers but we did it anyway...

Don't start. I would tell any non-smoker not to start either ecigs or analogs. I smoke ecigs because as a former smoker I am addicted to nictotine. You aren't. I truly wish I had never started but that's water under the bridge. Don't get into the habit even without using nicotine. It's alot of money just to satisfy your curiosity. You will do what you want anyway, but if I had it to do over, I wouldn't have started with either one.

I would suggest not doing it at all, even with 0 mg juice. Ever get the wrong order at a restaurant or from an online store? I'm certainly not knocking our suppliers, but everyone makes mistakes. One accidental switch and you now have an addiction. Not a big deal for someone who has already been using nicotine, but not for a non-smoker. There are just too many other forms of relaxation that are guaranteed to be good for you.

You will find a lot of people who have a negative reaction or response to non-smokers who want to adventure into the e-cig world. That's because so many of us are long time, heavy smokers. We turned to vaping because it was one of the only alternatives left that could help break us away from the certain destruction we were causing ourselves from smoking. We are not only addicted to nicotine, but to the act of smoking and whatever chemicals that are in the cigarettes. With vaping, we are simply trading one monkey on our back (one that was causing health problems and an incredibly bleak outlook) for another monkey that we hope is a much healthier alternative.

If given the opportunity, I think many of us would have chosen to never to start smoking in the first place. Or, we would have liked to have been one of those people who found will power inside of them to kick the entire habit to the side. Neither of those were happening for us. It's hard to imagine why anybody who has not had to go through the mental and physical stress of smoking would want to consider something that was developed for the purpose of helping people through it. It's like trying to equate Nicorette with bubble gum. It just doesn't make sense.

I agree with everyone else here that to start vaping without having been a former smoker isn't necessarily a good idea. Strigoi added the fact that with the act of smoking, it produces a psychological addiction, so the need for a vapor/oral fixation can develop. Without being too specific, it only makes some sense to me that you might ask about vaping (as a non-tobacco smoker), if you've smoked anything other than cigarettes. Though, that would also be under the assumption you've already developed that specific trigger. Given your questions regarding health risks associated with e-cigs minus the nicotine, it comes off as a behavioral replacement for a current smoking habit. I don't intend to psychoanalyze your situation, it's just not a common topic.

All in all, avoid developing a habit that you don't have.

Gonna go against the grain here but to be honest if you're going to bother with vaping at all then I would definitely do it with nicotine. Nicotine is a great drug in my opinion, why do you think hundreds of millions of people put up with the nastiness and expense of cigarettes every day? However you need to be fully aware that it is addictive and if you use it regularly you will become hooked on it. Although to me personally, when separated from all the other addictive substances in cigarettes, it doesn't seem nearly as addictive. What I mean to say is that after only a little over a month on vapor I don't crave anywhere near as much as I did while I was smoking.

If you do decide to use nicotine juice I would start low since it is a fairly powerful stimulant and if you aren't used to using stimulants it's best not to put too much stress on your heart with it right off the bat. Start out with maybe 5mg/ml or so and see how it makes you feel. If you feel like you're speeding too much then back off, otherwise gradually increase the dosage until you find a comfortable level and vape away.

I wouldn't bother with vaping for any reason other than as an alternative nicotine delivery method, if you want the flavor just eat a hard candy. If you want nicotine I would definitely recommend it over smoking(obviously), chewing, lozenges, gum or the patch for many reasons but mostly because I think it's more enjoyable than any of the other options.
