Hi. I have finally decided to get a LavaTube. I was going to get a ProVari but I just can't afford it right now. This is also my first mod so I think the LavaTube is a good choice to get started in VV and it will be a nice upgrade from my ego. My only dilemma is which one to get. I have shopped around and found many varieties and brands of all different price ranges. There are 3 that I am seriously considering. The first is the original LavaTube kit from Volcano in chrome 109.99$. The second is what appears to be a knock off kit from thevaporgirl.com at 86.99$. The third and probably the one i am leaning toward the most is the stainless steel Apollo V-Tube kit at 104.95. They are all basically the same device as far as I can tell. The stainless steel Apollo seems to be constructed better. If anyone has any experience with these APV's and can share any info on the differences (if any) that would be very helpful to me. I would like to order one of them by Monday. Thanks.:2cool:

From what I understand those ss and chrome ones in the new body style all have the version 1 internals and are limited at 2.5 amps of output current which would pretty much limit you to using SR (standard resistance) probably 3.ohm to get full range of voltage. They have a lavatube 1.5 which has raised that limit to 3.5 amp which will give you more flexibility, but it's only available in the standard lavatube body. I think they are coming out with a version 2.0 which is the 1.5 internals in the ss body. You can check the lavatube forum for more info.

I have a LT clone and I love it. It was perfect for my first VV mod. Make sure that you get SR or HR cartos/attys the LT has a cut off on lower resistance stuff. If you're using dual coils, make sure to get SR/HR. I use a lot of DCTs and I usually use a 2.5 dual coil or a single coil 3ohm replacement.

All in all I've been happy with the battery life and the feel. Like you, I wasn't quite ready to commit a large quantity of money to vv mod until I've gotten used to it. I'm thinking about getting a provari here soon though. Everyone I know and trust just praises those things like they are jesus christ's little brother.

Oh and I think the DCB 305 is still presale? Maybe I'm wrong
Yes you are right I am not for sale or pre-sale at least that I know of I might have to check with my wife...maybe if the price was right...HMMMM.

Thanks Vapor eyes. That is an awesome deal. Where can I get a LavaTube 1.5 DCB305?

I am not sure but I know they are out there already ask at the Lavatube Thread I'm sure someone there will be able to direct you.

I mainly use 1.5ohm DC tanks on my ego. Would those not work on the LT or just not preform quite as well as high resistance. Both the kits i'm considering now come with a 3 ohm atty. I also have some 2 ohm single coil cartos for my tank would those work better?

They will work but I dont think you will be able to go higher than maybe 3.7 volts, which would defeat the purpose. The best all arounders that give you good range on the version 1 would be 2.5 and 3ohm.

Thanks to everyone for all your input. I went ahead and ordered the chrome Apollo V-tube for 84.99. The thing that sold me on the apollo is that it comes with 2 AW-IMR batteries, a charger, a carrying case, a 3 ohm atty, and it is the new body style. Plus I got a free disposable. The disposable was what I was really after. HaHa. Now I'll be able to see what the VV hype is all about.
