Need some help and feedback on 18650s

Hey everyone, I'm getting back into vaping after a long time (but I don't plan to become regular), heres my dilemma:

- buy two 14500's and load them in my VV mod (its pretty cool, fires when your mouth touches the metal tip, PWM circuit keeps it at 5.5V, cuts off when batteries get low, etc.

- buy two 18650's, build a new mod that just uses one 18650 and a touch switch

I used my mod for so long that i forgot what its like to feel the "charge curve" of a battery, I'm really used to perfect, constant A grade drags, so I'm kinda skeptical; am I going to be really disappointed?

I'm out of the loop with batteries, if I get 18650's should I get purple efest, or panasonic NCR? I never heard of this new NCR chemistry, hows it compared to ICR/IMR for performance and safety?

The most important factor in choosing the right battery is to match it to the application which it will be used. The resistance (0hms) of the heating coil determines whether you will need a high amp battery or one with high mAh.

Should you be powering a sub-ohm RBA, you'll need a 30 amp battery. If using factory-made coils like a clearomizer or cartotank, amps are not quite as important and higher mAh becomes a higher priority.

Bottom line is to use only IMR or IMR hybrid batteries; these are safe-chemistry & high-drain batteries. Avoid using ICR Li-ion batteries, which are now obsolete for mod use.

I would think you'll be disappointed in the battery life & performance of 14500 batteries; these are pretty weak batteries. If you were considering using these batteries for stacking, I highly recommend that you don't. There is no advantage to stacking batteries in mods.

When choosing between the purple Efest or Panasonic NCR, it depends upon what your application for the batteries will be. If your requirement is for a high amp battery (ie sub-ohm RBA's), then the purple Efest is the best choice. If longer battery time using normal resistance coils is the priority, then the NCR Panasonics should be the choice. Both the Efest and Panasonic batteries are IMR/hybrid batteries. Panasonic uses the "NCR" identification for their hybrid batteries (nickle-cobalt rechargeable).
