So I've been vamping for over a year and a half now, no thoughts of a cigarette whatsoever. My problem is that I'm sick and tired of constantly having to fiddle with stuff day in and day out to keep this crap working reliably.

I've have a buzz pro which I'm at about a year on. I'm happy with that at least. I've tried every carto known to man (510, 801), I've tried nova tanks, carto tanks, ce3xl's and Phoenix bottom coils, countless atomizers and a bunch of those stardust tanks.

I was really excited when ikenvape came back a few months ago but it seems they're suffering the same issues that other cartos are. I have yet to have a carto in the past 4 months that wicks acceptably.

Now I used to be thrilled with my carto tanks before cartos were absolutely terrible. Change the carto once a week, keep it topped off and it was brilliant. These days every carto I try has something that makes it frustrating to use - either poor vapor and flavor or they don't last longer than 2-3 days which is ridiculous! I was also really enjoying the CE styles for awhile, when they work they're great but they leak 90% of the time. The nova tanks are ok but I'm really bothered by anything that doesn't have a boge-easy draw. The stardusts are just terrible.

What else can I try?? I just need something that works, puts out good flavor and vapor and has a loose draw. I'm really about to throw all this stuff against the wall out of frustration. If anyone can suggest something I'm ALL EARS!

Thanks!

When all else fails, I drip. Then, once I've recovered from all the failures and messes, I can slowly take stock and see what can be remedied, what can't be remedied, and what new stuff I might want to try.

In the meantime, dripping is my old reliable. And, Avid Vaper has a wonderful 2.0ohm Cisco 306 atty that is absolutely perfect!

Good luck.

I'm really happy with my MAP Tank as far as the "looseness" to the draw, BUT, vapor production is lower than with a Boge carto and the flavor is somewhat muted. I do get more vapor, though a little too much TH with higher voltages so settle for something mid-range, decent vapor and not too much TH. BUT, the flavor is also more muted than with a plain Boge carto as well. It IS frustrating, isn't it?

So I use the tank occasionally, mostly rely on the carto, and with the tank reserve it for my stronger flavors that some muting doesn't bother me as much over. As for the cartos, sometimes they don't last as long as I would like, but I notice that seems to be more related to what juice I am putting in it, darker, thicker juices seem to interfere with the looseness of the draw more than others, more acidic (or something) juices also seem to kill the carto faster. What juice(s) do you use in them? PG/VG ratio?

I'm guessing from the OP's comments and questions dripping sounds like a little more "hassle" than he/she wants. Maybe even has tried it? Just a hunch...

I know most people don's want to drip. But, when you want to throw all your stuff against the wall or give up, it's a very simple, reliable method. No syringes, no gadgets to fiddle with, just drip and vape.

It is the absolutely simplest, most reliable method.

But, that's MY fallback. His might be a good quality carto. They can be just as simple. The point is to find something absolutely reliable to fall back on in desperate times.

I'm very surprised that he hasn't had better luck with Ikenvape.

It sounds like what OP needs is a recommendation for a new source for good cartos.

Good luck!

I've tried dripping, but every atty I've ever tried had a draw that was waaaay too tight or leaked like no tomorrow. Sucking on a tight atty makes my neck hurt. They also blow through juice. I'd be fine with dripping if I could find an atty that I liked and worked well. I drilled out the air holes on a few atties and got the draw where I like it but then they leak more. I vape all day so having an atty leaking everywhere isn't an option.

Maybe I need to try ikenvape again, I don't know. My last order was when the store just opened again and all the cartos were too tightly packed and none of them had a consistent amount of filler. Some the filler stopped 3/4" from the top, others 1/4" and some the center tubes weren't against the bottom all the way. Just wasn't impressed like before.

I usually vape diy 70-90%VG flavors and none of them are dark. I like fruiter flavors which are mostly lighter colored.

I'm not against having something that takes a little bit of effort - I'm a tinkerer and usually don't have a problem with it but sometimes I REALLY miss the ease of opening a pack of cigarettes and lighting one. Done. I also modded all my CE3's but I just don't want to have to constantly screw with it anymore.

When I get tired of the hassle, I pop in some General Snus. It is as easy as smoking a cigarette, and you don't need a lighter.

I like dripping too, but the 306 does have a tight draw. It doesn't bother me though.

It seems like the easiest is still just a plain old cartomizer.

Sorry if this isn't a good suggestion, but with you saying you are a tinkerer maybe a genesis rebuildable atomizer. This could be something to work on and once you get down making a wick with stainless steel mesh and making a coil, it has been hassel free for me. The only time I spend with my genesis now is when I switch flavors, and this is just my preference so there is no cross over I syringe in water and out and then dry burn to get the coil clean. Takes ten minutes or less and I may do this once or twice a day. Once you get the coil and wick down it is an amazing device, just not pocket friendly.

Also for dripping atomizers I have really liked the 901s from ikenvape, i use an empire drip shield and a 501 to 901 adapter.

Good luck.

I'm new to all of this, and I've only ever used an 808 but:

I've seen at least one other person who started with an eGo, moved on to a mod and then went to an 808 with cartos and has stayed there ever since.
And, it has been stated in many threads on this forum that either Kanger or Smokeless Image make some of the best and most consistent cartos in the industry.

Maybe try switching to an 808 with a carto(tank) and seeing if that does the trick for you?

There are a decent number of comparable 808's to look at, and it seems smaller vendors lead to better quality. At least, based on my observations on the forums here.

Let me know too when you find it.

Everything has pluses and minuses. IDK. The suggestion above about dripping is the most fiddle-free way as there is the least to go wrong. The trade off is having to carry a juice bottle and dripping all the time is more laborious.

I've been dripping for two years for that reason. I do play with tanks and occasional cartos/clearos for driving. But mostly dripping is the least PITA way to go, IMO. As to the PV....meh. Effective volts/amps is effective volts/amps. I like a vv something-or-other. I use swappable battery mods mostly so I can use my 14500's and not worry.

Go back to your tank. Get 2.00 ohm per drilled (2 holes) the Smoktek have been coming in reliably for me. Be sure to buy them from smoktech or a very reliable source. I bought an ohm meter (15-20$) to readnmineso if it's way off or dead just send back with follow up order. I do use atties too. Usually when I'm getting a kick from some new flavor. When the excitement dies down I'm back to tank unless, like with last new flavor it just wasn't tasting great and too much throat hit with my atty (1.5 ohm, never again) so I put it in tank an it turned in to atwo day vape FEST..I usually switch around but anyway....I for one would never give up my tanks. I do use Pyrex. I used to use 1.7. Now it's 2.00

Boge had some bad ones go out for quite awhile this year, but seem to be on track now. Have you tried some recently? Have you changed your juice lately in that they're not carto-friendly now?

Getting 3 days out of a cheap carto isn't that bad...........

If that cartos inside a tank 3 days is horrible. I get 2 weeks to a month out of mine.

Have you tried Smoktek single coils from Smoktek.com?

Something that just works? You should try a bottom feeder - REO or Boggers are the easiest to get, and work very well (full disclosure-I have 4 of the first and 3 of the second)

Exactly what I was thinking. I don't own one but a friend of mine does and it seems like such a great device.

Maybe a GGTS + a UFS w/your favorite atomizer in it. It's an expensive solution ($300+ for a GGTS in the classifieds and another $120 to $150 for a UFS), but it has the advantages of a tank system without the hassle of cartos.

The UFS allows you control the airflow, so you can make it as tight or loose as you want.

I think Avid Vaper also has an atomizer tank coming out in the next month or so.

I use a Buzz Pro with 510 cartos every day and I've had my problems with a tight draw. I finally solved it by buying a 510/510 adapter (or 'extension' might be more accurate). I screw the adapter down snug then screw in the carto and it gives a good draw similar to a filter cig.

I used to always buy IKV cartos, Fusions and Platinums when they were available, but the last ones I received were packed too tight and didn't wick well. I started buying Boge LRs locally and they've been pretty good; they hold 1.2 mL on the first fill using a syringe, don't leak and there haven't been any problems with drawing juice up into the drip tip.
