Hello,
I have been on here for awhile reading,reading.. I am excited to start vaping and get off the nasty ciggs. When I think I have decided on one, I then change my mind. I will tell you what I think I am looking for. I tried one at the mall and knew it was not for me. I believe, I need a good throat hit, vapor and feel pretty close to a cigg for the beginning. I now smoke American Spirits menthol, about a pack a day. Would appreciate if you would share which one got you away from the ciggs and what vendor. As far as cost, this is not a concern for me. I just don't want to get one and be disappointed.
Thank You in advance and I am looking forward to vap !!!

I started out with V2 brand and after reading this forum I jumped straight to a Reos mini mod. V2's and Reos are pricey, but you said money is not a problem. You can buy all the stuff V2 sells cheaper if you hunt. Many folks are going to recommend Ego's..... but for me, I needed the look and feel of a cig for a while. Different strokes for different folks. Good luck.

Welcome to the ECF! Bloog, Vapornine and Smokeless Image are also great no-fuss starter kits that will give your great performance right from the start if you are looking for a cigarette sized device. The biggest drawback is battery life and an eGo or Riva would solve that issue. A mod such as the Reo jamminloud mentioned would be the next step, but I usually recommend a kit to get started. Just make sure you buy some juice, as well.

If you don't want to be disappointed, then consider this:

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

A good beginner model is about the size of a very silm cigar. I would look at the RIVA 510 or 901 or the E-Power. Always stick with manual batteries and start out with eliquid around 24mg nicotine strength and then adjust up or down based on your own experience. Most need that level to stay clear of smoking, initialy. Here are some well supported sites by ECF members:

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

Nhaler

e-Power

Good Luck

Thank You, I just watched the Volt with Jan on you tube. I know the battery life is not great, but I am leaning towards that one to start. I know more battery life, and manual is the best. I am just afraid if I get something so different from a cigg I won't stick with it. I know it is such a mental thing. I am sure once I get the hang of it, then I can move on to bigger and better.

As important as getting the right hardware may seem... I think it's even more important to get the right flavor (ejuice).

That's where Alien Vision Ejuice ( Alien Visions E-Juice ) comes in. Once you get your hardware picked out, head over to AVE and pick up the biggest bottle of Boba's Bounty that you can afford.

Oh... guess this was mostly a hardware question... so I'll try not to de-rail this thread:

I personally recommend starting off with an eGo kit. Two reasons:

1. Battery life. One eGo fully charged battery lasts most of the day, instead of two hours.
2. The connection. The eGo has the very common 510 connection. Very easy to find attys and cartos for it.

In my opinion, what is even more important than your choice of battery... is figuring out the rest of the hardware that you are going need.

What seems to be neglected alot is the cartomizer/atomizer when people are suggesting kits for new people. I personally would look for a kit that has cartomizers instead of an atomizer (MadVapes has one, but it's not in stock right now).

If the kit comes with cartomizers, you'll want to make sure it has a bottle of ejuice and a syringe. If it's missing either item, you'll want to pick them up. You will also want to pick up an atomizer and a matching drip tip.

If the kit comes with atomizers and cartridges... you'll also want to pick up some cartomizers, a drip tip, some ejuice, and a syringe for filling.

Having all these components lets you try out cartridges, cartomizers, and dripping and see what one suits you best. Try to avoid "Low Rez" stuff for now. You can start experimenting with those, and higher voltages, and multi-atomizers, and tank systems, and bottom feeders, and... there's Keep in mind, this is a small fraction of what is available out there. There are many styles of cartomizers and atomizers and drip tips. For now, just pick out any cartty, atty, driptip, etc.

Once you have determined whether you need to buy either an atomizer and drip tip or drip tip and cartomizers, I've got some good news: You can get all that stuff at Alien Visions Ejuice when you are picking up your bottle of Boba's Bounty.

(As a side note, I am not affiliated with AVE... I just really really really LOVE Boba's Bounty, and feel that once you've gotten a taste of it, once any has, they'll never want to put another regular cigarette in your mouth again.... because if your smoking a cigarette, then you not vaping some Boba).

Hi and welcome to ECF, avoid the mall products like rotten fish they are a rip off! You will get lots of suggestions adn advice, here is mine, try a universal generic brand like a 510 model, such as a 510 regular kit or a eGo which has longer battery life and the right juice makes a BIG difffernence. Read a lot on ECF and then just do it! Cignot, Litecigsusa, AvidVaper, Libertyflights are all good suppliers. Good luck and don't hesitate, just give it a try.

The most popular slim ecigs are 510 manuals (see Cignot.com) and KR808D-1 manuals (see LiteCigUSA.net, also sold in nicer colors by Vapor4Life)

100mah is about 1.8 hours of moderate vaping. (1 hour heavy vaping, 3 hours light vaping)

Joye 510 180mah
Joye 510 mega xl 280mah but quite long 128mm w/ a cartomizer
KR808D-1 (a 2-piece) 180mah for the shorty, 280mah for the standard size

Obviously with slim ecigs you need to carry a charged PCC and have chargers at work and at home, OR carry a lot of charged batteries

The "step up" would be a fat battery model like Ego or Riva 510 (Liberty-Flights.com & click the 20% off on front page)

FreedomSmokeUSA has an American Spirit eliquid

I use manual 510 w/ Boge 510 cartomizers (standard resistance only for slim batteries) and manual KR808D-1 w/ Vapor4Life cartomizer blanks (and occasional prefills)

All use eliquid and lots of it. I find cartomizers last the longest for me if I use thin liquids around 80% PG and 20% VG

I'm pretty new to vaping myself, having only been off analogs for a little under 2 months now so I'm by no means any kind of expert, but here's my 2 cents. I also smoked American Spirits for many years and had a somewhat difficult time the first 5 days off of them. I did some research and found out that they use freebase nicotine which is super addictive and that gave me the additional motivation I needed to never smoke again. I started with a very basic e cig kit from safe cig because I too felt that I needed something that looked and felt close to a real ciggarette, but I also got extra chargers and batteries since I knew I didn't want to get caught out there without a charged battery. I also liked that they used cartomizers and I've been refilling my cartos with juice from a bunch of different vendors....keep wanting to sample everyone's stuff lol. Now that I'm sure of my love for vaping I'm ready to move up to better mods so I've just gotten an Ego and I have an Echo on the way. If I'd known then what I know now I would've started out with an Ego an Echo or a GoGO or iGo since you can vape them for hours with no worries about needing to charge, but that's just me. Just go ahead and order something to get started because quiting those nasty analogs is one of the best things you'll ever do for yourself and if you end up needing to upgrade just remind yourself of all the money you've already saved by not buying ciggarettes. Wishing you a wonderful smoke-free future : )

I recommend the Riva Ego from Liberty Flights. Easy to use, battery lasts 8+ hours. Lots of accessories you can purchase for it from any vendor. Versatile pv- you can use tanks, cartomizers, carts/atty, drip. Costs $29.99 at Liberty Flights for a complete kit.

That's what I started with and I'm still using.

Keep in mind that most of the people doing the reviewing, this isn't their only pv. I have a mini also, but I would never use it as my only ecig. I use one to do errands or walk the dog. Then it's great.

If you get more battery life, more vapor and more flavor out of a Volt, why wouldn't you stick with it? Just curious.

Update: First of all I want to thank everyone on here for all of your advice. This is such a great forum and I find my self on here constantly. I realized that after reading your posts, that having more than one pv was the way to go. So I ordered a volt on July 1 and then yesterday I went ahead and ordered the Volcano Inferno with both kits. So now, here I sit and wait very impatiently for my kits. Oh, I also ordered juice from IVAPE and also extra parts. I can't wait to be able to start on my new adventure to the vaping world. Again TY so much to all of you wonderful vapors... :)

Sounds like you'll be in good shape with the hardware....now for juices...if you like menthol and or tobacco, take a look at halo liquids...they are pretty good....if you want to try some fruity or desert type flavors, goto mrs t's bakery and have a look...
Also, I think someone mentioned alien visions....good stuff there also...
Anyway, good luck with the new adventure...hope ya love it...
