So this is the second time lately that I remember seeing this canned email response from the FDA...

Does anyone see what the problem is with this?
Well, here's a big hint: Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.

The FDA has not changed their tune one bit.
And anyone that thinks they will through anything less than force of law is sadly mistaken.

As always, we need to grow our power base by getting more users, and the public on our side.
And CASAA is leading that charge, in exactly the right way.

Sadly, they are not getting enough help from the rest of us.
You are so right about that! More time spent helping with lobbying and also donating to the IVAQS Project would be far more productive than complaining. We can all do something to help.

I think the phrase "to speak for the industry" in reporter's comment is key here. Sure, there are lots of vendors, ECF members and YouTbe reviewers that are knowledgeable and articulate but would they really be qualified (or willing) to represent the entire industry?

It's still somewhat of a cop-out as he could have tried harder but I can imagine the difficulty. I am well-versed in my particular profession but because there are so many aspects of my "industry", would never go on record as a mouthpiece for my entire industry, representing myself as an expert outside my specific niche.

I agree somewhat, However for example I work in Retail, if someone wanted to know about retail, while your right I can't speak for the entire industry persay, I certainly would be able to give a general Idea about it. The problem is there is really no group that speaks for the E-cigerette Industry itself, The ECA is defunct. and CASAA is a consumer group not an industry group.

How about ANYONE to speak on the side of e-cigarettes? CASAA certainly could have done that, as well as the AAPHP, ACHH, NVC, Dr. Siegel, Dr. Laugesen, Dr. Philips, Brad Rodu, Smokefree Pennsylvania, etc.

To use that he couldn't find an industry representative as an excuse to completely ignore e-cigarette advocates is questionable at best. He didn't need a specific e-cigarette INDUSTRY representative in order to get a balanced article.

CASAA has released a statement regarding the FDA action: http://www.onlineprnews.com/news/63...issues-call-to-action-for-aaphp-petition.html

It be great if people would use the Facebook and Twitter features to promote the statement!

The thought crossed my mind, what if he did not witness the woman in the photo making this sale to 8th graders (and I have to wonder whether the author witnessed this in person or whether the story is aprocryphal.) Did he actually witness the woman whose picture is featured selling to these 8th graders? If he did not, it casts some very bad unfounded aspersions on her character.

I honestly think this "story" is total bull..... Maybe I'm just a bit paranoid here, or maybe from my advanced age I learned a bit, but my philosophy is "Never underestimate the trolling action of our government"

What the government wants, the government gets. Either by misinformation, or by assassination.

Kristin - FYI, the "tweet this" button in your onlineprnews link yields an HTTP 400 Bad Request error message.

Regardless, I posted a tweet with your call to action link and agree that others Twitter users should do the same. I typically use the hashtags #buttout and #FtheFDA when I tweet about "shoot-first" attempts at e-cig regulation.

Keep up the great work!
