Ok i must be doing something stupid here. When i add a percentage of water to a simple VG and Nic juice in ejuice Me Up the software adds a negative amount in the PG fields. (Pic attached)

So what am i doing wrong?

Stewart, take your 100 ml bottle, add 10 ml of your 72 mg/ml nic base, then add 5 ml of distilled water, and top it off with VG. There's your 100 ml bottle of unflavored 7mg nic level juice. It's gonna be thick, but I assume you know that. ;) I like 'em thick, too. :)

Now that is simple, thanks Lannie :)

Hopefully it won't be too thick for my Kanger Subtank Mini. I'm vaping max VG at the moment which claims to be 85% VG and 15% flavourings and 8mg nicotine. It's no where near as thick as the VG and VG based nicotine i have ready so i'm guessing all the additives are PG based in my max VG juice.

Now i'm thinking maybe i need 15% water to thin it out a bit

I've used 10% water and it was popping a lot. It worked but it was kinda "poppy." I'd suggest just putting some PG in the mix, so if it were me, I'd just add 15% PG and skip the water. 10% nic base (which is still VG), then 15% PG, then top it off (75%) with VG, and you'll have your 85/15 mixture.

I use flavors in all my juices (because I LOVE the flavors!) but they're usually about 10 or 15 percent of the total. I don't have a subtank mini so I don't know how it would do in that, but in my iSub G tanks, it can wick a little slowly if I'm chain vaping. 15% flavor behaves OK, but 10% or less can be problematic. So now what I do is put 3% distilled water in all my juice. It's not enough to make it pop or be really runny, but it seems to be enough to make it wick well, even if I'm chain vaping.

It's easy if you're making 100 ml batches, because every percentage of anything will be 1 ml. :)

the software doesn't make sense,
That's (one reason) why I never use them. The math involved isn't that hard to do by hand, and you never end up with stupid crap like adding negative amounts of PG in your mix. But then again, I guess I'm one of the (apparently) blessed few who understand what percents are and how they work.

Thanks again Lannie, i'm actually trying to avoid PG. I'm aiming for a 100% VG juice to start with hence why i'm trying to use just distilled water to get it to the right viscosity for what i have.

The subtank mini is having no trouble at all with 85% VG so i think i'll try 95%. I can always add a touch more water and like you and bwh79 say the percentages are simple enough to work out without software.

15% water won't hurt anything, it just might pop a little. Or you know, maybe it won't. I've always added water AND flavors (PG) so it could be it was just too much, in my case. You might very well be able to do 15% water if there's no PG at all in it, and have it turn out PERFECT. :)

You're welcome, and good luck! Happy mixing! I love making juice, in fact I just made a couple more 60ml bottles myself this afternoon. You can never have too much! LOL!
